🚨 URGENT: FOSTER HOMES NEEDED NOW! 🚨

We are at capacity. While we wait for foster homes for our current kennelled dogs, we cannot help those still waiting, leaving them at great risk of euthanasia.

Fostering is FREE. We provide everything you need, from food to vet care! We just ask that carers are within an hour of Bunbury for vet access.

Dozer – Young male, adores people! Good with dogs outside the home but may be best as a single dog while he builds trust.

D'Artagnon – 7 year old small breed, prefers his humans to himself. No cats, kids or other dogs in the home but can be fine with some dogs on lead.

1 year old female German Shepherd , needs a Shepherd experienced home, dog friendly.

Diago – Young male needing some lead training. Social but super excitable. We provide training support!

Mei-Ling – Young Border Collie mix, great at play with other dogs but can be jealous of attention from her human.

We also have many medium to large breeds waiting for dog savvy homes. Please help!

Apply now: www.barrc.info

We will then call you with more info!

Please note:

At BARRC, our mission isn’t just about saving lives, it’s about finding the right fit for each dog, whether in a foster or forever home. This helps reduce unnecessary moves between foster homes, ensuring the best possible transition for the dog.

Many of the dogs we rescue from pounds are frightened, may attempt to escape and need time, patience and the right environment to settle in. That’s why we look for foster carers who:

✅ Have time for daily exercise and socialisation (we provide training support!)
✅ Have a secure yard to prevent escape and ensure safety
✅ Understand that some dogs need patience and reassurance to adjust
✅ Can safely contain a dog if living on a farm property

While simply providing a yard does get a dog out of the pound, fostering is about so much more! It’s about helping them gain the confidence and skills they need to find their forever home.

If you think you can offer a safe and supportive foster home, we’d love to hear from you!

Thankyou gratefully for your understanding 😘

Dozer is looking for a foster or forever home. He has been in kennels long enough! Can you help by fostering him?
Dozer gets along with other dogs on his walks but ideally is looking for a foster home where he can be the only pet.
If you have ever thought about temporary care of a dog in your home, now is the time to reach out to help Dozer. He’s a gentle and loving boy seeking extra couch cuddles.

To foster, apply by completing a Foster Application and one of our team will ring you to chat further.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared name suggestions for our newest arrival! We had so much fun reading through them and choosing the perfect fit.

This sweet girl came to us from a regional pound with no microchip or collar but she now has a name to call her own, Mei-Ling. 💕

Dogs like Mei-Ling need foster homes to help them on their journey to a better life. BARRC provides all food, vet care and equipment needed for fostering and we also offer training for those local to the Bunbury area. If you have space in your home and heart, fostering is a rewarding way to make a difference!

We love our foster carers! And especially so when they write their own profiles for the dog in their care. 🥰

Hawk came into our care, a frightened, bitey little man. He has now transformed into a sweet boy with the gentle guidance from his carer. Hawk is needing a home who will continue to work with him to gain confidence.

“I am a 4kg L plate cuddle bug.
I’m learning that everything is not scary and I enjoy cuddles, belly rubs and sitting on the couch with my person/people.
I will never be a coffee shop kid and possibly dog park kid.
I prefer the quiet, non busy lifestyle.
I love my foster mamma and her grandaughter (10) is my bestie. Foster dad I now know is kind and I dont need to react.
My vet has given me some pills to help me adjust to family life without stressing.
I love playing in the garden, playing toys and I am a good boy when you go out.
I am fine when left alone with my teddies.
I am toilet trained and eat my meals and leave a clean dish.
Do you have the time to continue my training in trust with patience and love.
I can get on with other small dogs but I am still a tad choosy.
So, do you have a quiet home, not too much foot traffic , time and patience and love to share?
Contact the BARRC website for an expression of interest form”

Billy spent some time on the euthanasia list in a regional pound before we finally had a free space to bring him into care. How amazing is it that one of the rangers took pity on him and gave him a weekend away from the kennels!

During his short break, Billy loved exploring the farm, swimming in the dam, running with the other dogs, and soaking up all the pats. While in her care, the ranger decided to call him Billy. Unfortunately, a weekend reprieve was all she could offer, but we’re so grateful that one of our foster homes opened their doors to care for him until we can find him a forever home.

Our first Rescue Month in-store day on Saturday 22nd February was a fantastic day out! We had plenty of interest in our dogs and as luck would have it, Adidas found his forever home with an applicant who had applied earlier in the week.

His siblings are still waiting for their chance, so if you’re looking for a new best friend, check them out!

✨ Reminder: Purchasing a bag of SavourLife food during Rescue Month helps them reach their goal of supporting BARRC and other selected rescues. Every bag makes a difference!

Thank you for your support!

Dozer, pictured here with one of our amazing kennel volunteers. While kennels provide a safe space in the short term, dogs like Dozer thrive much faster in a home environment.

He’s searching for either a forever home or temporary foster home. We cover all food, vet care and supplies so it is absolutely FREE. You provide a secure yard, daily walks and lots of love!

If you can help Dozer, please reach out! Let’s get this boy into a home where he can truly shine. Visit www.barrc.info to apply to foster.

About Us

BARRC is a not for profit Animal Welfare organisation operating in Bunbury WA. The organisation operates solely on a voluntary basis and does not have paid employees nor does it receive any government funded grants. BARRC was established in March 2019 after a small group of individuals discovered a much needed requirement for more animal welfare organisation assistance in the South West of WA. We began as a group of individuals committed to rescuing and rehoming animals. Although we are a new organisation, at the time of commencement, our committee had a combined experience in animal welfare of over 22 years. The committee and management of BARRC is based in Bunbury, rescuing animals throughout the Bunbury region. This local community structure allows us to be flexible to meet the needs of the community and react accordingly.

BARRC focus on educating and engaging with the community to understand responsible pet ownership and how to embed it in their homes. We seek to have a positive impact to reduce animal homelessness whilst rescuing and rehoming those animals impacted in the meantime. We work collaboratively with other animal rescue organisations and have chosen a more compassionate way of looking at situations where people need to rehome or surrender their pets and understand that circumstances can change, placing families in desperate situations and in need of assistance. We understand how painful it must be for people forced to give up their beloved pet when they are left with no other choice. All our dogs are placed in suitable foster homes until the perfect home is found. Dogs in foster care are more likely to adjust to normal family life, as well as having the opportunity to socialise and provision of some basic training, such as house training and on lead manners. Foster homes not only save lives, they also make many animals more likely to be re-homed successfully. We believe that all companion animals deserve a safe and loving home. We strive to accomplish this through our work in rehoming, desexing and education programs. As part of our ‘Getting to Zero’ philosophy we are committed to achieving zero euthanasia of healthy, treatable and rehomable animals.
