An amazing three days spent in chilly Sydney at the PPGA 2024 Conference has now come to an end. Some amazing speakers, in particular Dr Robert Hewings (The College of Scent Dogs) and Dr Zazie Todd (Companion Animal Psychology) and my brain is back to being full and enthusiastic again after refilling my “learning cup”.
Plenty of catching up with friends and familiar faces but glad to be heading back home 💜

It’s been a little while since I last posted on here. Those of you that know me know my other job (☎️🚒🎙️👩🏻‍🚒) can get a bit hectic over the summer months which has definitely been the case over 2023/2024. Boo’s big brother, Bundy, has also had some health issues and he, along with Boo and Emma, have been my main doggo focus.
I have managed to get back into my workroom (aka the inner sanctum) and have started getting organised for the year.
First things first though - the Floofy Goons are all in need of new gear so Bundy’s new collar and lead were my first project on the list. He’s back to the wonderful team at the
Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane tomorrow for the day so has to look good!
He supervised the collar-making last night too!

Busy day prepping some extra additions to the Floofy Goons’ meals and some new treats.
🐂 Beef weasand (oesophagus) dehydrated for healthy low fat treats and full of natural glucosamine and chondroitin.
🐖 Another batch of pork pizzle chews - low fat, high protein and great for dental health.
🥛 Greek yoghurt and kefir for gut health.
⭐️ Golden paste - an all natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, perfect for supporting senior dogs with joint issues and gut health.

All were eagerly consumed this evening and given the tick of approval!! ✔️✔️✔️

A little side project for Boo Magoo's all done! Next Saturday, Jess Crannis, Emilie Gehrke and Bridget Townsley, aka The Walkie Talkies, will be competing in the 2023 FCFA Rhapsody Stair Climb to raise money to fight firefighter cancer. That's 41 flights of stairs with the amazing Jess doing it all wearing turnout gear and BA!

It’s that time of year when the ubiquitous red & green coloured rawhide treats are everywhere in pet shops. These “treats” are well known for being treated with chemicals, held together with glue and causing emergency vet visits for dogs chewing them.
If you want to treat your dog this Christmas, choose natural healthy treats and maybe a new food puzzle or enrichment toy. Something as simple as a wrapped biscuit or pizza box with some healthy treats or kibble inside can be just as enriching without the dramas!

The new dehydrator is being christened today with a batch of beef paddywhack. Paddywhack is the nuchal ligament which attaches the head to the neck. When dehydrated, it makes a great low-fat chew which is good for removing tartar.
Emma is making sure no one touches them!

My only Black Friday sale purchase arrived! Just for the Floofy Goons and just in time for a box of beef paddywhack coming on Thursday. I love being able to make my own healthy dog treats without additives and chemicals.

This is awesome news! Finally the Qld government have got something very very right!!!
While I applaud this move, it would be lovely to see a ban on 1080 and the medieval traps that are still in use!

We said we would ban them, and today we have.

Using and possessing prong dog collars will soon be illegal.

Our strong new laws give more powers to animal welfare inspectors to stop animals being in distress.

Because it’s the right thing to do.

Yesterday, I opened FB while on a break at work and had to control tears in front of a few firies when I read this post.
I have known Kelly and Henry for quite a few years now through Fresh Start Rescue and Hairypants Photography. Kelly has taken the most gorgeous photos of all three of the Floofy Goons and is one of the best doggo photographers in the business.
I’ve had the privilege of having cuddles with the big floof, stepping over him at the top of the stairs while he was busy surveying the world and Bundy even got to meet him while both boys were being pampered at La Casa de Pooch. He was a loving brother to numerous foster pooches and the bigger half of the oddest doggo couple with his adopted sister, Lulu. He was much loved by many and the bestest of bois.
Run free, big floof 🐾🌈. You now have endless creeks to paddle in, unlimited cyclists to chase down dog park fence lines and you can bark at whatever you want, whenever you want, to your heart’s content.
Sending Kelly and Lulu love and hugs from us and the Floofy Goons 💜💜💜

My love for you launched a business that changed my life and introduced me to some of the kindest, most amazing people I’ve ever met.

In the last few years your grey face and slowed down body somehow transformed you into an even more amazing soul. Gentler and wise, using your old dog privilege to demand an endless supply of chin and belly scratches. Your lifelong stubborn streak turning into weird little senior habits that god forbid I ever tried to get you to change.

I love that so many people In my life have a “Henry story” that gets told over and over and still makes us laugh every time.

My world won’t be the same without you to share it with.

I’ll love you forever, darling boy.
