Latest News! We are so excited 😊

Annwn Park Lipizzaner Stud and Phoenix Park Lipizzaner Stud are happy to announce that 524 Llamrei (Eve) will be bred this season to 315 Maestoso Pomona.

This will be the first foal that Annwn Park Lipizzaner Stud has bred since 2015. As always, a lot of careful thought has gone into the choice of stallion and mare combination.

EVE is by re-known Lipizzaner stallion 257 Favory Pallavicina Merlin (x 226 Favory Naussica imp Fr/exp USA) x 227-1840 Pluto XXIX-23 imp Szilvasvarad) and from the mare 223 Lucca (174 Favory Sistina I x 109 Linda).

MAESTOSO POMONA is by the Piber imported stallion 318 Maestoso Gratia 1-3 (559 Maestoso Virtuosa x 53 Gratia) from the mare 234 Pomona (2697 Favory XXIV-33 XXVII x 227-1840 Pluto XXIX-23 imp Szilvasvarad).

Eve is the only breeding female progeny alive of the 109 Linda mare line. The breeding will have a lovely very complimentary double cross to the mare 227-1840 Pluto XXIX-23 imp Szilvasvarad.

We are quite excited about this foal.

It is important to remember that Lipizzaner horses should not get started until they are 4 years old. They are a slow maturing breed and will reward your patience by remaining sound throughout their 20’s.

WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS 🥳

We have received confirmation that two of our fillies are going to remain coloured. Presciana being black and Storia being bay. Storia also carries the nd1 gene, meaning she may also display dun-like primitive markings (she is too fluffy at this stage to tell).

For many years, Phoenix Park’s goal has been to reduce the incidence of melanoma occurring primarily in homozygous grey Lipizzaner horses. After a long time waiting, we have finally accomplished this goal.

This year we have produced the first major influx of “heterozygous” grey foals which significantly reduces the chances of these foals inheriting melanoma. Although it’s well known that melanoma within our Lipizzaner population is rarely fatal, reducing it’s occurrence can only be of benefit to the horses and their owners. Additionally, the two coloured fillies are the first coloured foals born in Australasia (50 years) since the Lipizzaner breed was first ever imported to Australia. Won’t washing be a lot easier 🤣

Welcome Maestoso Ischia to the Phoenix Park family. Born at Halado Park, Ischia delighted in presenting this cute little guy on a stormy night, much to the dismay of Katherine! This horse transporter would have to be the best we have come across in all our years of transporting interstate and local. Garry recently moved over a dozen of a friends horses for us over the space of a weekend on a days notice, when no other transporter would give us the time of day. Yes.. an urgent situation for these people! Not only did he move the unhandled horses of all types, stallions, mares, yearlings, all across the state, but they arrived calm and unscathed. He was also responsible for bringing Merlin down to us safe and sound from NSW. An amazing transporter and horseman. We will only be using him from now on and highly recommend others do so too! ❤️

A year ago today, LipiData was launched.

LipiData started off as a very basic program containing a few hundred Australian and New Zealand Lipizzaners, which allowed stud book registrars to print out pedigree and registration papers. It wasn’t fancy!

One night, after a few too many cocktails, we thought why don’t we add in every single Lipizzaner on the planet?? Obviously, that was the cocktails talking but that is when we started considering making LipiData what it is today.

Whilst we’ve spent many hours pouring our heart and soul into LipiData, we haven’t done it by ourselves. So, we thought this is a good time to acknowledge some of the people who have helped get us to this point.

Kristijan – you’re an absolute champion and you’ve been with us right from the moment the site launched. Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge of Serbian Lipizzaners.

Amanda and the Phoenix Park Lipizzaner Stud family – We don’t need to say anything here. You already know.
