Our September rally is shaping up to be one of the best yet! We’re thrilled to welcome Australian Barrel Horse Association (ABHA) member Jill Tunkin from Sporting Horse Australia as the highlight of our western-themed rally.

Riders, members, and families—don’t forget to bring your best western-themed outfits! We can’t wait to see who wins “best dressed.”

And don’t worry, dads & father figures—we haven’t forgotten it’s your special day. We’ve got some fun games and activities planned just for you, and we’d love for you to join in!

BHDPC is excited to announce that we are now accepting expressions of interest for our new Ready2Ride program!

The Ready2Ride membership, also known as the “Rookie” membership, is designed specifically for young riders eager to begin their journey in pony club.

✨ Half-day rallies

⭐️ August Rally Wrap-Up ⭐️

The sun shone brightly for our rally today, and so did our members! It was a pleasure to welcome a handful of new members and their families, as well as new rider-mount partnerships.

Riders enjoyed all the major Olympic equestrian disciplines: show jumping, dressage, and cross-country.

A special mention goes to our fabulous non-riding members, who are always the biggest supporters, encouraging their teammates on horseback when they need it.

⭐️ July Rally Wrap-Up ⭐️

BHDPC had the privilege of hosting super coach Chris Mann. With over 30 years of coaching experience and numerous qualifications and achievements in the equestrian industry, Chris brought invaluable expertise to our rally.

Members brought their A-game to an eventing style rally, with Chris coaching show jumping and cross-country, while Allie led the dressage sessions.

We are extremely proud of all our riders, as each one pushed beyond their comfort zones to achieve their goals today.

⭐️ June Rally Wrap-Up ⭐️

Our members had a beautiful start to the winter season, and it was packed with numerous disciplines! We enjoyed seeing many new member and mount partnerships.

Throughout the rally, members had sessions in groundwork & horsemanship, mounted archery preparation, and cross-country.

Some of the highlights included members understanding the purpose of different groundwork and the benefits of pressure release, riding all gaits in a straight line (one-handed!) in preparation for an upcoming archery clinic, and learning how to manipulate their weight to aid their mount over different terrain in various gaits.

As always, our members never stop amazing us with their hard work, willingness to try and dedication to becoming the next generation of well-rounded equestrians.

What a sensational way to wrap up the BEST 2024 series for Barwon Heads and District Pony Club! We are incredibly proud of our riders, both as individuals and as a team. Their outstanding efforts secured the Best Performed Club award for our small yet mighty club, marking our first win in this series competition.

A huge thank you goes to the sponsors at Horseland Geelong ,as well as to all the clubs, competitors, volunteers, and supporters who made the BEST competition an exceptional event.

⭐️ April Rally Wrap-Up ⭐️

Our riders had numerous opportunities for horsemanship exposure through an obstacle course. They were taught on how to safely introduce an unknown object (in this case, a large ball) to their mount. Each rider was successfully able to get their mount to interact with the ball while remaining in the saddle.

Riders also had the opportunity to take private dressage lessons with our wonderful coach, Maxine. Each student came away from their lesson with a deeper understanding of the importance of flatwork and how it influences every discipline.

In lieu of the last round of BEST, riders were eager to start jumping. We are all very excited for the last round. Best of luck to all who are competing!

⭐️March Rally Wrap Up⭐️

Riders took to the XC course first up and got into the importance of learning how they need to shift their body weight in the saddle to successfully aid their mount over fences on hills.

Riders also took to the dressage arena to sharpen their skills in lue of CT, IS, HT competitions coming up.

Theory consisted of riders learning and marking the horse’s skeletal and muscular system (thank you Scout) as well as a bit of pole bending fun to see how the major muscle groups work while the horse is in action.

Long time & beloved coach, supporter and mentor Maxine aided our new coach Allie on signing off all her PC coaching accreditation.

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 | Team AUS has dropped to 6th place after a few problems on Pierre Le Goupil’s CCIO4*S Nations Cup course at Haras du Pin. Lissa Green suffered two refusals on course and Jess Rae had one run out.

However, both Sam Lyle Equestrian (currently in 32nd position) and Hazel Shannon (currently in 24th position) put in fantastic efforts finishing with no jumping penalties and only 3.2 and 2.4 time penalties, respectively

Olympians Andrew Hoy and Kevin McNab also faired well; both going clear.

Andrew and Vassily de Lassos were clear and under the optimum time of 6’21” - the 14th time they have done this at FEI competition. They will stay on their dressage score of 29.6 in 13th place for the jumping phase.

Kevin and Willunga incurred 2.0 time penalties and will take a score of 29.2 (currently in 12th place) into the jumping phase.

All horses will present for horse inspection on Sunday at 8.30 CEST (16:30 AEST), with jumping beginning at 11.30 CEST (19:30 AEST).

Barwon Heads & District Pony Club would like to remind all people attending on Saturday that they register with our covid marshall on arrival. That they carry a mask for when social distancing is not possible. Please bring cash for purchasing your rounds and the canteen. We will also be holding a raffle. Ribbons for clear rounds will be offered by our judge. We are looking forward to a fun packed day. The Barwon Heads and District Pony Club would like to thank the members of Geelong Show Jumping Club and other Pony Club members who have helped in putting this day together.
