I am pleased to share that I am now offering one-on-one therapy dog sessions in the Macarthur region with my small team of Better Day Dogs. Sessions will be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and may occur within home, facility or out in the community.

NDIS participants may be able to claim under the following categories:
* Innovative community participation
* Individual social skills development
* Community engagement assistance
* Skills development and training
* Community participation activities

End of an era - Bunny made her last visit to Liverpool Hospital Hospital Palliative Care ward today after more than five years of visits. (Bunny is fine, Jody has had to stop due to uni commitments.) Thanks for the wonderful memories to all the staff and patients we have spent time with. Thanks especially to 4C staff for welcoming us as part of your team. 💜💜💜💜

Good luck and best wishes to our good friend Naomi who is moving to a new role after more than 20 years at Liverpool Hospital. Naomi first requested visits for the ward in late 2018 and had to negotiate lots of red tape to make Bunny’s visits happen from early 2019. Thanks to Naomi’s persistence and dedication, Bunny has put a smile on lots of faces since then (and licked a few tears too).

I may not be the first to have coined this slogan, but I'll still say I thought of it myself this morning!
When we want our dogs to greet us without jumping up, we give them what they want (our attention) when they are doing what we want (positioned with all four feet on the ground).

Nine years ago today, Bunny was assessed and became a dog. Back then we had purple bandanas and I had to cut hers down so she didn’t disappear! 💜

It was my absolute pleasure to assess Maple the cavoodle as suitable to be School Support Dog for Bangor Public School. Janet has done fantastic work preparing Maple for her new role and preparing the students and staff for safe interactions with Maple. They will make a wonderful contribution to well-being at the school.

A couple of special visits at Liverpool Hospital today. First, an older couple, both patients, with their beds pushed together 💜💜 Then a lady who said that she’d never been so close to a dog in her life after being bitten by a dog as a child. As you can see, she and Bunny both enjoyed the interaction!

Busy day for Bunny today. Uni in the morning to help Christina from teach Recreation Therapy students about the benefits of animal assisted therapy. Then off to our weekly visit to Liverpool Hospital.

This morning’s consult required a final leg of travel by tinny! I spent time with Elvis the 16 week old golden retriever and his lovely family, demonstrating some training basics and talking about how to set Elvis up for a happy life as part of the family.

It was lovely to catch up with Rubble who works with his handler in a child psychology practice. It was Rubble’s first day back after a break to work on some new behaviours (which he nailed) and he was so happy to be back at work!

I received my favourite piece of feedback yesterday from assistance-dog-in-training Daisy’s handler. Daisy had been having some issues maintaining neutrality with excitable dogs and fortunately my Violet was excitable enough 😉 to provide a good training opportunity!
