We will be away as of tomorrow until Monday. I will still have service but replys will be delayed. We are off to spend some quality time with family.

Harp's has got 3 baby budgies in the nest. She's going to be excited to hear the news when she gets home.

Nest check today, and this is the current numbers.

-Cookie & Skittles have 4 eggs that are developing.

-Banjo & Aurora's eggs are not looking promising, but they have continued to lay.

-Jerry & Polly had broken 2 of their eggs, which is very unusual for them so there birdy sense may have told them the eggs where no good. But have since layed another 2 eggs.

-Lou & Kiri's eggs where also clear but they to have continued to lay. Very proud that they have not even made the slightest blemish on any of the eggs, as blue throats are notorious of egg damage. And being their first time with eggs I think that is a brilliant effort in itself.

Eggs will be candled again in a week and see where we are at.

One of Harp's pairs of budgies has fertile eggs as well and should be hatching soon.

We are heading to the Sunshine Coast in a couple of weeks.

-Rockhampton to Gin Gin on the 16th in the evening
-Gin Gin to Yandina 17th in the morning
-Yandina to Rockhampton on the 18th

We have some birds still available and looking for new residence.

Blue throated conure c***s bred 2023 and 2022,
And 3 pairs of Quakers.

So hopefully we will have chickens again soon, some eggs in the incubator and some under 'Ginger' the hen. Harps is hopeful for plenty of little fluff balls to love on.

Another box made, this one is for Barney and Colours our sun conures. There old box has had a bit of water damage due to a leak in the avairy roof. So new house was in store. This one I have made slightly bigger then the last boxes I made just to give them a little more space.

Only 2 more boxes to get made for our flock.

Nest checks yesterday and this is our count so far - though I don't think our blue throat or the olive cockatiel eggs are looking promising so far (both first time layers), but I shall check them again in a weeks time.

Harps also has a couple of budgies on eggs.

Houdini took a year break from breeding, but her and Taio where getting a bit keen. So I gave her, her nest back. To say she was excited to have her nest was an understatement I was struggling to get the wire off the avairy where the nest box hangs because she wanted to help. Before I even finished securing the box on the avairy she was in there.

Now miss Houdini, I ask of you to only do a small clutch, I already have my hands full this year.

Thats 3 boxes made so far this past week. Another 3 to go and that's the boxes for my flock done.

First nest box made after creating a small human, think I still know how to be a handy-woman. 💪

I have started to put latches on the roof of the nest boxes thanks to 1 smart little blue throat that decided to open the lid and go for a joy flight in the avairy walkway. 🛩🤦‍♀️

Well I have put a few pairs of cockatiels in for breeding, so we shall see what happens. 1 pair are first timers so fingers crossed.

I have also found our first green cheek conure egg and also a blue throat egg. This is the blue throats first time nesting (our young pair) so can only hope they are good parents off the bat and don't need several attempts before getting it right. So far no damage to the egg 🤞.

I do hope to hand raise some babies (cause man I'm missing it) but will see how things are going when we see babies.

In August we will be heading down the Sunshine Coast, and can transport birds

We will be leaving Rockhampton on the 16th of August in the evening and stopping in at Gin Gin. We will then continue onto Yandina the following morning the 17th and on the 18th head back from Yandina to Rockhampton.

If your interested in any of the following We can transport birds however a deposit is required to hold the bird/s until then and to show you are serious in purchase as it is a bit of a hike to take a bird on unnecessarily.

Due to unfortunate circumstances 2 cockatiels that we raised in 2022 are in need of a new loving home. Angel and Elvis are still with their owner but need to find a very caring person to be their new family.

Angel (female) & Elvis (Male) are rising 2 years old and have been loved so dearly so their mum wants the very best of home for them.

If you may be their future family please contact us and we can put you in contact with their mum.

Got some much needed cleaning done in the cockatiel avairy this morning. And while i wasnt using the dust-pan and brush these ratbags 'Cookie and Skittles' had to check it out. Skittles was trying to see if it would make a suitable nest.

Opens at top, has a crack in the tray, but still functions fine. No grid on the floor of cage, cage easily comes off stand for moving/cleaning.

Definitely takes a lot longer to feed the birds now days, and we have to have regular feed breaks ourselves. But you can certainly say we start them young here.

Well it is now time for us to announce our big news.

As many have read I have not been hand raising any birds for sometime. And well the reason is this-
On Tuesday the 21st on May we welcomed the newest Betarah family member.

We had not announced the pregnancy due to several complications to which we were warned that we may lose bub. And with having to be put on light duties and be on stand by incase the need to go Brisbane for specialist care it was easier to not have any baby birds on the go.

It had been a stressful time and was hard work trying to slowdown while battling the complications mentally and physically. But so thankful we got to welcome our little girl into the world.

°•¤ HAND RAISED BIRDS ¤•°

I'm getting asked daily if I have hand raised birds.

Unfortunately right now I don't have any, I have taken some time away from hand raising birds at this time and likely won't be hand raising any until the end of this year. It is a very demanding process and need to be fully committed and although I absolutely love it, I have needed to take a much needed break to focus on other aspects of life and health right now.

Our interest books have been closed during this time.

We only have aviary bred (NOT TAME) birds available currently which you will find photos and details of in our photo albums.

We do also have some supplies (photos and details also found in photo albums) and looking into widening our range in a few months.
