Expressions of interest are now being taken to go on out wait list for Labradors in 2024. We have all 3 colours planned. It has been over 12 months since we have had our own puppies.

Please note we will also take EOI for some of our older dogs as well. So if you are wanting a companion for 2024 please send us a message and let us know what you are looking for.

Please note at this stage until our flat coats have their health clearances we have have no puppies planned at this stage. We will update these plans as we go. We do have an older flat coat boy who is still waiting for his forever home.

More updated to follow once we know if the girls have fallen pregnant. (First update expected in 2 weeks)

Well today we would like to wish Jazmine, one of our oldies, a very Happy Birthday. Banderra Regal Samantha "Jazmine" came to us as a wee little puppy and she grew up with Kirra (whom we lost last year). She starred in a movie at 10 years old called "Swinging Safari" and took it all in her stride.

We still have her son Ch Copperkee Graphic Design "Chase", her granddaughter Gr Ch Copperkee Shooting Star "Hannah", her great grandson Ch Copperkee Frozen In Time "Seiko" and her great great granddaughter Kyden Light My Fire "Eden". 5 generations under our roof.

To make this day even more special 2 years ago she became a great grand mother/great great grandmother to our “Disney litter” Copperkee Into the Unknown “Aria” and Copperkee Let it Go “Elsa” who still live with us.

Today we celebrate such a great age. Yes, she's getting slower now, slightly hard of hearing and does sleep a lot..but she still looks at you with those bright brown eyes.

POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the puppy?
BREEDER: $3,500
POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!
BREEDER: What do you think would be a good price?
POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $500. You breeders are so over priced.
BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way, why don't you try it yourself?
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!
BREEDER: For FREE I can teach you how to do it, and in addition you will have the knowledge to do it again.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you!
BREEDER: To start you will need a female(average cost $4000 and up). Also a male(average cost $4000 and up) or semen (average $3000 and up). You will need to show them to their championship to show they meet the breed standard(Minimal $2000 with travel & fees). You will need to do genetic & health testing on them, averages about $750 per dog. Raise and provide daily care, feeding & grooming for 2 years. (So minimal $150 per month)
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money...
BREEDER: You can raise a liter and then keep one of the puppies. Obviously, you will pay the cost of whelping & care. Vaccinations, microchips, DNA testing, ect.
POTENTIAL OWNER: I can do that.
BREEDER: OK so I have a female due to whelp in 2 weeks. You will need to be available 24/7 around the clock for at least 8 weeks to help with delivery and care.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Eight weeks?? it's way too much time for me! I have to work.
BREEDER: You will also need the reproductive vet to do xrays($200-$500), possibly progesterone testing($75-$250) & C-section($1800-$6000) and initial vet care on pups until old enough to be placed.
Have on hand a scale, thermometer, latex gloves, sanitizer, absorbent tissues, scissors, hemostats, heating pad, whelping box, blankets, cleaning supplies, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, formula, medications & hand feeding supplies in case of emergency....
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!
BREEDER: For $1000 you can buy them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a puppy.
BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us breeders there are no vacations or holidays, while you go to visit with family & friends we are home at our dogs side caring for them. It is a no breaks commitment.

When you choose a professional you don't only pay for the puppy but also:
Tools, knowledge, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc...

**Not written by me. Just copied and shared but couldn't have said it better as I have experienced most of this and it is heartbreaking**

BEING A BREEDER

Breeding is traumatic. Read that again. Breeding. Is. Traumatic.

At some point when you breed you will experience trauma. It might be your first litter, it might be your fifteenth. If you breed with any sort of longevity…you will experience trauma.

I have had to go through things that have scarred me for life, things that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies

You will lose puppies.
You will lose one of your girls.

You will lose both at the same time.

You will lose dogs

People will be cruel to your dogs and not all buyers will keep in contact no matter how much you try.

You will deal with human beings who won’t like you because you won’t sell them a dog, because you breed animals they don’t like, Any number of reasons, really.

You will deal with the stress of vet bills when an unexpected whelping complication occurs.

You will deal with overzealous mamas who get urine burns on their lips.

You will have Years that no matter what you try your girls won't take or they reabsorb litters.

You will deal with animals you bred being sick, despite how hard you tried to avoid it.

You will deal with upset owners who were expecting perfection because unrealistic standards are ascribed to breeders who health test and title.

I make no apologies for the dogs I’ve bred over the years. I have regrets and sadness over certain occurrences, but I am not sorry for the dogs I’ve created who bring their owners joy.

I have experienced trauma, I have many sleepless nights and tears, but I also find joy in what I do.

If you choose to breed, you will too. And you need to decide how much you can take.

But you will also have joy and pride and beautiful people who love their dogs to the end of the earth and beyond ....

We currently have 4 Black Flat coateded retriever male puppies from our latest “F litter” that are 7 weeks old. These boys are will be ready to go home at 9 weeks of age. (Approximately 7th/8th of May)

Parents are both health checked clear for eyes and good hip and elbow scores. And each puppy comes home with a puppy pack including a bag, blanket, toys and a folder full of lots of information.

Photos taken at 5 and 1/2 weeks old. Additional photos and videos can be provided to anyone who is serious.

Please keep in mind that flat coats have different personality to Labradors. They suit an active life style and need to be part of the family. They are also highly versatile in competing in many dog sports such as: retrieving, obedience, rally o, showing, tracking, and nose works. They also have a longer coat than a Labrador that similar to a golden retriever.

Happy to Fly them anywhere around Australia to the right family.
