Housesitting - Pe Ell, Washington
Sept. 23rd - 26th, 2023

This adventure saw me 2 hours south of Seattle in the tiny town of Pe Ell and let me tell ya.....talk about the middle of nowhere. I was so honored to housesit the Nudledogs for my dear friend Jenn! 2 of the sweet pups were hospice care as they had cancer, 1 had Cerebral Hyperplasia and required lots of care lifting and helping move around safely, 1 pup was deaf and the last 2 pups had no medical issues. It took a day but we quickly got into our routine and the pups settled nicely! Sweet Bailor, the big boy with CHP, was very content on HIS sofa but was able to slide off on his own to tell you he needed to potty. If he wanted to go out, I would use his "sling" to help walk him out and down the steps to the fenced in yard then help lift him up to come back in. Carl, who was in the final days of his cancer fight, was blind (no eyes) and required help getting in and out as well. Nala, the little cancer fighting pup, was such a sweet soul and content just laying in front of the fireplace or on the sofa as we watched TV. Sweet Austin, the deaf pitty was a wild child but super sweet. My time with the Nudledogs was short but they left a lasting impression on my heart!

(The day that I left, sweet Carl crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a valiant fight with cancer. It was truly my honor to care for his every need in his last days. Fly free sweet boy!)

Farmsitting - Springtown, TX
Aug. 31st - Sept. 7th, 2023

My 8th work trip of the year took me down to Springtown, Texas and the 5150 Farm. This was a combo trip of helping on the farm and getting the new art gallery set up which was a first for me! The 5150 Farm was a beautiful 5 acre farm with all kinds of chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, rabbits, sheep and tortoises and the cutest pups! We were sooooo busy and the weather was so hot outside that I actually didn't take my normal hundreds of pictures. Because of the temps, it was imperative to do numerous checks throughout the day to ensure everyone had clean, cool water and that they weren't suffering any ill effects of the heat. Thankfully the farm animals did just fine! When I wasn't helping with farm chores, I was helping Heidi move in and set up her new art gallery for which she had her grand opening for while I was there! What's not to love about amazing friends, beautiful surroundings and adorable animals! Thank you Heidi and Travis for having me! This trip was full of heartfelt people, soul filling conversations and laughter so hard my sides still hurt!

South Lake Tahoe - Housesitting
August 8th - 24th, 2023
Part 1

My first combined work trip and vacation was nothing short of amazing. I returned to South Lake Tahoe, yep the infamous location that had 5ft of snow just while I was there in March! This time, the neighborhood looked just a tad different for I could actually see grass, pavement and stop signs 🤣. I was soooooo thankful we didn't have have snow this time but we did have the remnants of a hurricane!! As soon as I walked in the door, the pups were soooooo excited to see me again! Most mornings, I spent a few hours at the lake relaxing or kayaking then would come back and spend the rest of my days with the pupperonies, 3 vizslas....Nandi, Shanti and my heart dog Sasha. It was so different this visit being able to take them to the river to run and swim or to the lake. These pups LIVE for the river.....you say the word and they KNOW! It was also great to see the chickens come out of the coop this visit....not much they could do with 5+ft of snow. Their sweet crossbeak hen wasn't exactly thrilled with the shower I gave her but she certainly loved being blown dry with the hairdryer again. The flock is sooo sweet! To see them out and about, scratching and sunbathing was so neat! The pups even enjoyed going outside to sunbathe, well I don't blame them because I enjoyed it too 🤣. I also got to see my friends the hermit crabs but they kept to themselves. Highlights of this trip included picking wild arnica then making arnica oil and being less than 5ft away (not by choice) from a huge brown bear......yikkkkkkkes. 2 weeks flew by and before I knew it, I was saying see ya soon to the pups and my friends! Thank you Lorilyn and Steve for having me back and I'll see you next April!!

Back with 2 of my all time favorite pups ever Sunny and Ladybug along with their small flock of chicken friends!! These two girls are just pure joy to watch and they are always soooo happy to see me. With the weather being beautiful, we spent soooooo much time outside because these girls are all about play!! I would go into the garden to pick fresh produce and both enjoyed trying to stick their noses through the fence to see what I was up to. Our mornings consisted of me sitting on the couch watching tv, drinking coffee while the girls tried to beg for a second breakfast then cover me in kisses. Evenings involved tv watching, couch cuddles and relaxing. At bedtime, the girls were the best bed hogs! See you next month girls!!!! Thank you so much Missy and Nate for having me back!

Farmsitting - West Linn, Oregon
July 4th - July 24th, 2023
Part 1

My 5th travel job of the year took me south to West Linn, OR and back to the amazing Hill Farm! I drove up the driveway and as soon as the LSGDs Pearl and Cora saw me, they instantly remembered me from last year! Those two pups are just the most laid back and sweetest pups. They are serious when it comes to doing their job of guarding the farm yet will roll over for cuddles and give you kisses too. Inside was 2 kitties, both very skittish but eventually I won over the black one with treats and she decided I wasn't too scary. Outside was a beautiful flock of 30+ chickens, 2 duckies and 3 goaties. The weather was really hot so I spent lots of time making sure they all had clean, cool water to drink numerous times each day and provided lots of handcut fresh fruits and veggies for added electrolytes. Let me tell ya, if you've never seen a goat eat watermelon, you are really missing out! The chicken/goat yard also benefited from my 3 week stay and with the help of my dear friend and her husband who live 8 minutes away, we were able to build them a new platform for play and rest then made new roost bars for the coop! I was truly blessed to have been able to spend so much time with my dear friend while I was down there......great food/drinks, amazing conversation and even learned how to fly fish!!! Before I left town, I even got to meet two of my awesome facebook chicken friends and their critters which was super fun!! Thank you so much Sara and Rick for having me back to watch your crew and beautiful house!!

Farmsitting @ The Muddy Pug Farm and Animal Sanctuary
Hobart, Washington
June 20th - July 4th, 2023

Part 1

Where oh where shall I begin?!? My 4th travel job of the year took me off island and due east of Seattle to Hobart, Washington for my first time ever farmsitting at an animal sanctuary! It was pure magical. The Muddy Pug consisted of 2 massively handsome cows, Cupid and Swish, 24 sweet goaties, 4 sheep, 6 ducks, 1 turkey, 7 hens, 1 rooster, 4 button quail, 9 bunnies, 2 barn kitties and 3 puggles. As soon as I walked outside, I was greeted by the barn kitties Jason and Ms. Voorhees. Jason would follow me EVERYWHERE and they both were just the sweetest! My mornings typically started between 6-6:30am with feeding all the residents and making sure they had fresh water. once done with that, I would head back down to the house for a little rest and some coffee with the puggles. By 9am, I was back out for the super hard work.....stall/enclsure cleaning. When caring for 63 animals, let me tell you stall cleaning solo is crazy insane hard work! Typically I would start out in the lower barn since that area was the hardest. Cows p**p and p*e A LOT and they go EVERYWHERE oh and not to mention they lay right in it so it was important to get their area cleaned first so they could go back to sleep after breakfast. With the lower barn done, I headed to Senior Living, then to the Sheep/Mini's, followed by the chicken/duck area, the rabbit area, the bantam hen area then the lower house enclosure. Once all the stalls/enclosures were clean, I headed back to the barn to get the feed carts refilled for evening feed and swept the barn. Now that everything was cleaned, I had a few hours to relax. I would grab some lunch, a little nap then I always ended up back out with the sanctuary residents giving lots of love and cuddles. I quickly realized that Cupid and Swish LOVED to be brushed......yes, the two 1,300 pound cows loved it!!! Usually the goaties would quickly demand scratches too! Before I knew it, it was dinner time for everyone and med time for 3 residents. After evening feed, I would refills waters and then head back down to grab dinner myself. When it was bedtime, I would walk the enclosures and tell everyone good night and turn the lights off in the barn. This routine happened every single day and night for 14 days. It was crazy, insanely hard work but was soooo rewarding to see the animals happy and healthy! Thank you to Jennifer Long and husband Greg for trusting me with the beautiful sanctuary and charming farmhouse! See you in December Muddy Pug!

Housesitting - Prosper, TX.
June 1st - 11th, 2023

My 3rd work trip of the year took me south to Prosper, Texas which is about an hour north of Dallas. It was my very first time outside any airport in Texas! On the way back to the house, we stopped at Whataburger for dinner to take home as I've ALWAYS wanted to try it......simply delicious and I had it 2 more times before I left. Walked in and was greeted by 2 of the cutest, most rambunctious kitten brothers. After dinner, I got to meet the outside flock and of course I fell in love! My dear friend and her family left the next afternoon and my job began. I spent sooooo much time outside with the chickens and in the pool. I was so happy to get to experience 2 momma hens with 4 baby chicks each and let me tell you.....bantam chicks are crazy tiny!!! The mommas were soooo good with their babies! The yard had this really cool tunnel system so the chickens could venture between runs/enclosures and the coop and be safe from arial predators. Days were spent with the chickens and evenings with the kitties. I was tasked with socializing them and by the second night, both kittens were sleeping with me. Their favorite game was to play wrestlemania with each other and it was hilarious to watch. Although most of my time was spent with the chickens and kittens, I did manage to meet another one of my dearest chicken friends Heather and her most adorable house rooster Berry. We went out for a delicious sushi lunch then back to her farm for a tour! I also got to meet a dear friend from Facebook I know through the SGK 3-Day. I've known Sharon for over 9 years and was so happy we finally got to meet in person over dinner! My trip wouldn't be complete without a bucket list adventure.....world famous Buc-ee's!!! That was the most AMAZING place I've ever seen. Got my Beaver Nuggets and a famous brisket sandwich....soooo good! And what they say about Texas is true.....everything is bigger in Texas! Thank you so much to my very dear chicken friend Gabby and her husband Darrell for trusting me with your amazing critters and beautiful home!

May 5th - May 31st, 2023

Meet sweet little Gigi! I had the pleasure of watching her for almost a whole month while her amazing mommas took a bucket list adventure in the Arctic! Gigi was just the sweetest little pup. She would sit just outside the shower waiting for me every single morning. She wasn't an overly cuddly pup but if I had Juno's memorial blanket, she was all over me....pretty sure she claimed it as her own and the same with my Juno pillow! Gigi absolutely adored her walks and would sit at the door looking out as if to say "okay let's go"! Whenever I came back to the house from running errands or volunteering, she would start dancing as soon as she heard my car! All in all just a super amazing little pup that I grew to love and really enjoyed watching! Thank you so much Leslie and Janet for trusting me with your sweet girl and cute little home!

Farmsitting - Fresno, CA.
April 17th - April 28th, 2023

Travel job #2 for the year is complete and it found me going back to Fresno, California! Farmsitting for world famous crossbeak rooster Poppy and his friends is always MAGICAL and AMAZING! A few weeks before I came, my beloved legless rooster Juno passed away. My heart was shattered beyond shattered and the grief was immense. As soon as I got to the house (which was super late because of a flight delay) and heard Poppy, my heart smiled and the heavy feeling seemed to disappear. Two days after I arrived, I got my AMAZING photo realism memorial tattoo of Juno.....my healing journey began! In Fresno, I cared for Poppy (who has a severe crossbeak and can not eat on his own, thus needs to be handfed very carefully 2-3x a day), his trusted mini sidekick Maisy, sweet kitty Sully, 2 parakeets, 3 indoor fishies, 4 Goats, Willow the livestock guardian dog, horses Bailey and Apple, miniature horse Howie, miniature donkey mother and daughter duo Ilean and River, a tank of koi fish and a flock of chickens. Having been the second time farmsitting here, the animals all knew me and seemed excited to see me which was a great feeling! Poppy can be a handful, but we quickly settled into a new feeding routine and he did absolutely AMAZING! He and Maisy are the odd couple and the cutest duo. Maisy follows Poppy everywhere and is his shadow. They love to just hang outside in the grass or on the patio and explore. Poppy and I spent a lot of time together which really helped with my grief of losing Juno. The highlight for me was when Poppy slept on me for 90 minutes....most amazing experience ever! In the evenings he would es**rt Maisy to her tent where she slepts then come into the living room and jump up onto the couch to watch tv with me. Last June when I was here, baby River was only a few months old and now she is a big girl who just celebrated her 1st birthday! River is sooooo crazy sweet and I could sit all day with her! Her momma Ilean is a gem too! Howier the miniature horse is a pickpocket and will nip at pockets and steal treats if you have them in there! The big horses Bailey and Apple are so sweet and gentle and loved to pet and fed carrots! The goaties were all over me demanding loving every time I went into there area. They loved their strawberries and carrot treats too! Livestock guardian dog Willow is a gentle soul. Every time I'd go out to the yard she would bark but when I would say "hi Wills" she immediately got playful and happy, recognizing it was me. The outdoor flock of chickens were fun to sit and watch too especially when I gave them whole ears of fresh corn, strawberries and chopped fresh spinach with mealworms! Head rooster Sage was much nicer to me this time too! While in Fresno, I also got to see one of my favorite country singers, Cody Johnson, perform in concert and it was the best concert I've ever been too. Before I flew home, I also got to go to my very first rodeo which was super cool! This trip was exactly what my heart and soul needed to begin my healing journey! A massive thanks to Tricia Stone-Shumaker and her husband Scott for trusting me with your amazing farm and beautiful house! Looking forward to September and December!

(Special heartfelt thank you to those who surprised me by sending Juno memorial gifts to Fresno....walking into the bedroom was like my sweet boy was there with me. No words to describe how much that meant! Those photos will be a separate post on my personal page)

April 8th - April 17th, 2023

Couldn't ask for a sweeter group of animals to watch as my heart began to grieve the loss of my beloved Juno. Inside I had Jax the Germam Sheppard, Puck the stunning gray kitty and Opal the sweet little bunny. Outside I has 2 horses, 2 miniature horses and 3 goaties. Both Jax and Puck demanded to sleep with me every night and I greatly appreciated it! It's like they knew I needed the extra love! Jax is so crazy adorable and the sweetest German Sheppard I've ever met! His favorite thing in the world was being outside watching the world go by although playing with his toys was a close 2nd! Get that boy hyped up and he will do zoomies for 15 minutes straight! Now Puck, he is one of the most stunning kitties EVER; a super sweet boy is every sense even if it means almost tripping because he is playing with your shoe laces. Oh Opal, now that girl LOVES to be loved! It's like she just melts when you hold her! She is crazy smart, litter pan trained and loves her treats! I absolutely adored all the outside animals as well. The two full size horses were so gentle and loved to be pet. The miniature horses were crazy cute and so funny. The goaties were hysterical. If I was petting them, they would would push their butt into my leg to demand that I not stop. Thank you so much Sara and Jed for trusting me with your amazing farm critters and beautiful home!

March 29th - April 8th, 2023

What a fun time watching kitties Riggs and Nocchi along with the sweetest old lady pup Lacey. Kitties kept me on my toes as they thoroughly enjoy getting into things, especially food. Riggs favorite thing was to hide under the slats of the bed and stick his paw up as I was getting ready to lay down, thus scaring me every single night! Nocchi was the best cuddle bug by the end of my time there. That brings us to sweet old Lacey. She is super content laying around, being served her breakfast and dinner and enjoying casual strolls around their property. The one thing she hates is the rain so good luck getting her to go outside for potty breaks if it's raining. And don't let Lacey's old age fool you, she still LOVES her toys ! Now for a pet sitting first: frogs.....two tiny little aquatic froggies! They were so ugly that they were cute! Thank you Lisa and Aaron for trusting me with your sweet fur kiddos and beautiful home!

Back with my kitty pals Zeke and Zoey! Zoey only comes out from the closer for her momma so I hardly saw her.....so little that I had to have her momma send me a picture for this post 🤣. Zeke on the other hand is all about being an attention hound! He meows so loud that it echos through the whole house! If you meow back to him, he will have a full on conversation with you! Zeke is the epitome of a big chunky stud muffin! He loved doing his rounds outside and would sit on the back porch when he wanted inside. At night, he made the best foot warmer and was sooooo good with Juno! I absolutely love watching him and his illusive sister. Thank you so much Shelly for once again trusting me with your beautiful home and adorable kitties!!

South Lake Tahoe - Housesitting
February 28th - March 9th, 2023
Part 1

This trip can basically be summed up in one word....SNOW and LOTS OF IT! Grand total of snow just during my visit was over 4 feet and that's on top of the 10ft + that they already had! It was beyond crazy and sooo beautiful! I even taught my self how to use the huge snowblower they had......with zero instruction! I didn't get out much because of the weather but that's okay. This trip, I was tasked with looking after 3 adorable Vizslas: Nandi, Shanti and my heartdog Sasha, 12 outdoor chickens and 1 special needs crossbeak hen named Emmy Lou! The pups were just the best ever and soooo funny. We quickly got into our routine and they won my heart....guess it helped that I came with a bag of treats 🤣. The chickens outside were a fun bunch and because of the weather, hung out in the heated coop most of the time. They were quite happy and I don't blame then for not coming out! Now Miss Emmy needed hand feeding 2-3x a day because of her severe crossbeak and collapsed tounge....a condition I am very trained in providing care for! I realized she needed a little more nutrition so I switched her to torpedo feeding and she did absolutely fantastic. I was able to teach her momma Emmy's new routine and it will be life changing for Momma and Emmy!!! So glad that the knowledge I've learned over the past 3 years of special needs chickens can be used to help others! Thank you beyond words to Lorilyn and Steve for trusting me your sweet crew and beautiful little house!! See you guys in August!!

Sooooo good to be back with my buddies Sunny, Ladybug and the flock of chickens! These 2 pups are velcro dogs in every sense! They are best buddies and absolutely love to be outside whether it be playing or lounging in the sun! You get the girls inside, then it's all about couch cuddles and being bed hogs which I'm certainly not complaining about! The flock of chickens are always so fun and crave the mealworms and fresh veggie treats! Thank you Missy and Nate for once again trusting me with your your beautiful little house and your super fun critters!
