Sarsha first time long reigning
Our beautiful little sarsha, is like a little shadow after one session of join up!
Thankyou to My Hero Is A Horse for lending her assistance today jenelle is awesome and often has a calming presence for our young breakers
Max doing some desensitising work for me 🤔😅
Sometimes you have to eat your words as a trainer and somehow swallow it with pride 😂
This is trixie she is a bush brumby and has the most sensitive/responsive personality she is wanting too learn and love but sadly she never got that from a trainer early on in her life once she came from the bush (she has had some awesome owners though!) sadly her flight instinct has won out a few times and she has been known to run thru a fence to get out of pressure.
I’ve taken a new approach with her that I have always refused to do with any other horse.
Clicker and treat training. She has gone from a closed off pony to inquisitive and even when she wasn’t ok with something she would always come back too try again. Hopefully eventually the clicker will be associated with good behaviour over a treat.
(Although trixie is part Labrador I swear)
Moral of the story is you have to get too know the horse or pony you work with!
As much as I discourage treats in training some horses respond better with it.
I’m so proud of trixie a first session
Having a snack break, there is no peace when it comes to shimmer she is as bad as the labs
Shimmer float training
Today shimmer had a brush up on float loading, it’s really important to have a horse or pony that will self loads and stands happily in the float untied or tied especially with other horses loading and unloading next too them.
Shimmer is new to self loading and unloading backwards being a small pony she has learnt to turn around and it’s a bad habit that can become pretty dangerous quickly.
I normally try to minimise the time I spend in the bay of the float, to me that is a horse only zone.
Eventually as she improves with her floating you will not need to step one foot into the float.
Sugars first rise
Sugars first ride today was super relaxed and easy!
Lovely warm morning to take shimmer out on a trail ride
Sugar
I haven’t had a lot of time to work with our beautiful little sugar, due to new client horses coming in.
This is her first long reining and mouthing session, sugar is a very strong character and as a typical chestnut mare she always has too have her say.
In our few short and brief sessions she picks things up quickly and is not afraid of anything.
She is always up for attention!
We love our little sugar and every step of her journey makes us so much more excited for the future with her.
This is shimmer she is being re-broken undersaddle for my client, today we worked on being re-mouthed; control and long lineing.
When bringing a pony with unknown history back into work it is so important to set the pony up correctly by reinstalling the very basics from the start for a smooth transition back into being ridden after years off.
Ebony is one of my young personal horse today she was helping me demonstrate some of the fun and crazy things I do when I start horses undersaddle.
Can you believe that she has never had a bike near her before untill today?
A solid foundation when they are started undersaddle can last them a lifetime and give them the ability to not be worried when you introduce new things to them.
Please don’t mind my bike riding skills….. there a bit rusty 😂

Creamy’s first long reining session since being started under saddle years ago, creamy is a very willful pony who doesn’t have any fear of people so often oversteps boundaries,
He is a really awesome young horse who has never had a lot of work behind him, because he is such a easy going little man often you let things slide!
sometimes you just need to go back to square one to get a better result under saddle, as you can see he wasn’t too keen at the start of our session but once he worked out what I was asking he was very responsive and soft!
Things don’t always go to plan and that’s okay!
Because you can only ever move forward.
