Barkin Mad Ultra First of its kind in Australia, we bring you the Barkin Mad Ultra. Dogs running to save dogs. Join us on the 5th and 6th October 2024

Dogs running to save dogs!

A 2 KM walk or a 10k walk/run, 20 KM or 50 KM race to Support the Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue INC. The 10km and 20 km will be on the Saturday and the 2 km and 50 km will be on the Sunday. A new race that will strengthen your bond with your best friend, challenge your limits and raise funds to further support the amazing work carried out by the Aus Hair of the Dog INC., dog rescue. We together have the chance to help make positive pawprints for change!

GET READY TO GET ON LEASH!

BARKIN MAD ULTRA is Australia’s epic dog ultra run and we are back again for 2025.

It will be held on the 4/5th of October.

We will be again raising money for Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc charity.

Last year we raised $13,000 which will enable the charity to save approximately 13 dogs this year.

So if you and your four legged best bud want to challenge yourself then mark your calendars for February 28th and sign up for a race like no other!

Distances: Saturday (10km, 20km, 50km), Sunday (2km, 5km)

We are please to to announce that we made $13,000 for the event overall from race registrations and donations! This will effectively save the lives of at least 13 dogs that come into our rescue.

This posts is but a small way we can say a huge thank you to the people who made this event possible.

It’s nearly been a week since the Inaugural Barkin Mad Ultra
On the 5th and 6th of October 2024, 120 keen humans with their 4 legged best friends ventured onto the trail at Rokeby.

Saturday started early at 7am with 4 brave individuals attempting Australia’s first ever dog ultra run: Marie-Claire with Ted the chihuahua, Kirstie with Doug, Chelsea and Chris with Ella the Cavie, Beanie the pug and Frankie the greyhound mix.

After they set off, the 20km runners walked to the startline ready to race! It was an epic race with a stacked field of excellent trail pedigree.

Our biggest event was the 10km with over 50 racers/walkers and their four legged friends. They set off at 10am to make memories. And that they did.

On the Sunday, we had our dress up rescue 2km walk/run and many pooches put their best paw forward and looked fabulous.

All in all it was an amazing weekend. Filled with good vibes, pawsome people and furever friends.

Baw Baw Bathroom Kitchen Laundry Clearance 2km walk on the Sunday is also a fancy dress.

There will be three dog prize packs up for grabs for the best dressed Dogo, cutest Dogo and Goodest Dogo.

You can enter on the day for the 2km if you haven’t already. And the walk heads off at 10am.

One medal/ bib per one paid entry. Kids go free!

10 km: 500 ml fluid minimum, mobile phone, collapsible cup (optional) snake bandage

20 km: waterproof jacket and hood, 1 litre fluid capacity minimum, snake bandage, mobile, collapsible cup(optional)

50km: waterproof jacket and hood, thermal long shirt and long pants (most likely optional), beanie or buff, full fingered gloves (optional), 1.5 L fluid capacity, snake bandage, mobile phone, space blanket, collapsible cup (optional)

Do I need a dog to compete at Barkin Mad Ultra?

As much as we would love everyone to be running/ walking with a Dogo, it is not mandatory!

We may have the option to pair you up with a rescue Dogo if you express interest ahead of time.

Ultimately, we would love for people to still enter even without a Dogo. Any queries send us an email: [email protected]

Ultra Relay!

To get some more interest into the ultra race. Barkin Mad Ultra will still have a 50 km race where people can enter individually but now we are opening the ultra race to teams.

You can enter the race in teams up to 5! So as a team you can finish the ultra together!

Upon entry simply pay for one entry fee and email us how many people are entering in your team and what people are doing what distance. For example: one person can run 20km the other 30km or 5 people can do 10km each.

The winning team will receive a prize pack. However prize money is reserved for ultra runners who finish the race as a single finisher.
