Wondering about our 4th little bebe?

This sweet little chick had a rough hatch and a herniated umbilical which has since healed over nicely!!

We immediately noticed some other issues on hatching as well. Chick was unbalanced, had a weird flow of it's head and had zero interest in food or water. I had fed it some yolk and vitamin water for its first day and on day 2 it has perked up a litte, finding its feet a little better.
After sitting and watching for nearly 12 hours we think it may be BLIND!!

This morning I have come down, honestly expecting it to be an angel chick, but it is EATING and DRINKING on its own. It's still a struggle, and every 5th peck of the feeder is a success, but I have hope they will figure it out!

Hecate has 4 beautiful little babies as of this evening!
Pictured are our 3 healthy babies!

Our most recent hatch has what looks to be a slightly herniated umbilical but is very energetic and has great instinct so far! 🤞 the umbilical will dry over night and we will have a little fluffy healthy chick come tomorrow!

It's another Hatch Day today at Hudsons Hutch!!

If you've been wondering where the eggs have been for the past 2 months - almost every single one of our girls has had a broody moment in that time. Honestly, it's been exhausting 😅 Silkies and Pekins are not known to break their brood easily and unfortunately they stop laying in that time as well!

Hecate is our mama of choice for this clutch! All 7 eggs have been fathered by our Frizzle Pekin Rooster - Colonel Mustard. You will remember him from our last clutch!! I tried to focus on the eggs from our Satin (smooth feathered) Silkies so I'm very excited to see what they produce!
An all black frizzled hen would be the DREAM - though an all black frizzled rooster might be better in terms of breeding all blacks down the line!
Though don't tell the family another rooster is on the cards 😅

Introducing the 4th love of my life

I don't know if they are a boy or girl yet, but when they are roosting in my hands I'd do literally ANYTHING to keep this baby safe.

This is Ginger and he (I think) is the favourite of my hatch!

Vega turned out to be a murderous mother 🙄, so beautiful mama Pandora has been separated and left to raise their 7 babies alone.

We even have a live stream nanny cam set up so we can check on the babies anywhere, any time.
