๐Ÿ“ข We are thrilled to share an important announcement that marks a significant milestone in our veterinary clinics journey. After months of planning and preparation, we are excited to officially announce we are undergoing exciting renovations to expand and enhance our clinic! As our clientele grows, we want to ensure weโ€™re equipped to provide even better care and service to your beloved pets. The renovations will give us more space, updated facilities, and an improved overall experience for both our team and clients.

During this time, we are still fully open and welcoming patients as usual, and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work hard to create a bigger, better clinic for you and your pets. Weโ€™re committed to maintaining the high level of care and attention that youโ€™ve come to trust, even while weโ€™re in the process of upgrading.

We appreciate your continued support as we make these exciting changes! Stay tuned for updates as we move forward, and thank you for being part of our journey. ๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿพ Christmas Dangers for Pets: Stay Safe This Festive Season! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ„

The Christmas season is filled with joy, but it also brings some hidden dangers for our furry friends. With the Aussie summer in full swing, veterinary clinics see an increase in emergency cases during this time. Here's what to look out for to keep your pets safe:

Christmas Foods to Avoid:
๐Ÿท Alcohol: Can cause intoxication, vomiting, and even death. Keep drinks out of reach!
๐Ÿฅ‘ Avocado: Can cause gastrointestinal issues and pancreatitis.
๐Ÿ– BBQ Meats: High in fat and can lead to pancreatitis or intestinal punctures from bones or skewers.
โ˜• Caffeine: Found in coffee, tea, and energy drinks, it can cause seizures and heart problems.
๐Ÿซ Chocolate: Toxic to dogs and can cause vomiting, seizures, or worse.
๐Ÿ‡ Grapes & Raisins: Can lead to kidney damage and failure.
๐Ÿฅœ Macadamia Nuts: Can cause hind limb weakness and pain.
๐Ÿฐ Christmas Puddings & Mince Pies: Contain toxic ingredients like grapes and raisins.
๐Ÿ„ Mushrooms: Poisonous varieties can cause severe health issues.
๐Ÿง… Onions & Garlic: Harmful to both cats and dogs, leading to digestive issues and anemia.
๐Ÿฌ Xylitol: Common in sugar-free products, it can cause dangerously low blood sugar in dogs.

Non-Food Dangers:
๐Ÿ”‹ Batteries: Swallowed batteries can cause severe internal damage.
๐ŸŽ„ Christmas Trees & Tinsel: Hazardous if ingested and can lead to GI damage or physical injury.
๐ŸŽฃ Fishing Hooks: Can get stuck and require immediate vet intervention.
๐ŸŒธ Lilies: Highly toxic to catsโ€”even brushing against them can be fatal.
๐Ÿ Snakes: Summer means more snake activityโ€”keep pets safe from bites!
๐Ÿชณ Ticks: Keep up with tick prevention, as paralysis ticks can be life-threatening.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Heat: Aussie summer heat can cause heat stress, especially for short-nosed breeds.

Stay vigilant this holiday season and ensure your pets enjoy Christmas as much as you do! For emergencies, contact your nearest vet. ๐Ÿฅโค๏ธ

๐ŸŒž๐Ÿพย Warning: Protect Your Pets from Heat Stroke This Summer!ย ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒž

Australia's summer heat is here, and our furry friends need extra care in this scorching weather. Heat stroke is a serious and life-threatening condition, and pets are especially vulnerable.

๐Ÿ”ดย Signs of Heat Stroke in Pets:

Excessive panting or drooling

Rapid or irregular breathing

Weakness or lethargy

Vomiting or diarrhoea

Bright red or pale gums

Confusion or unsteady movements

๐Ÿ’กย How to Help:

Always provide access to fresh water.

Avoid walking your pet on hot pavementโ€”walk early or late in the day.

Keep pets inside during the hottest part of the day (usually 11 am - 4 pm).

Never leave pets in a hot car, even for a minute!

If you notice any signs of heat stroke,ย immediatelyย move your pet to a cool area, offer water, and contact your vet for emergency care.

Stay safe and keep your pets cool! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿน๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŒธ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! ๐ŸŒธ

This month, you may have noticed our amazing team at NIVH is proudly wearing pink to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and raise awareness about the importance of breast cancer research.

Did you know that breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia? Every day, 58 people hear the words "you have breast cancer," and tragically, 9 lives are lost to this disease daily, even though the five-year survival rate has improved dramatically from 76% to 92% since 1994 . In total, over 21,000 people will be diagnosed each year, including around 200 men.

By supporting NBCF, we aim to help eliminate deaths from breast cancer entirely. Their goal is to reach Zero Deaths, targeting the remaining 8% of patients who don't survive.

Join us in spreading awareness, supporting research, and working towards a future where no one has to lose someone they love to this disease. ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿšง Attention pet owners! ๐Ÿšง

We want to assure you that our front car park is still open and accessible, despite the ongoing roadworks on the adjacent road. You can still bring your furry friends in for their appointments without any hassle!

If you would prefer, our kind neighbours at the Bulli Community Centre are also happy for us to use their car park which is accessible from Dumbbell Road.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you and your pets soon! ๐Ÿพ
