🚽 World Toilet Day! 🚽

Your pet’s bathroom habits can tell you a lot about their health. Changes in frequency, colour, or consistency could be early signs that something’s not right.

Keep an eye on what’s in the litter box or backyard — and if something seems off, give us a call! 🐶🐱

Beach days are back! ☀️🐶 Sadie loves the beach, and there’s nothing better than sandy paws and salty air — but before you hit the waves, here are a few tips to keep your pets safe this summer:

🌊 Always bring fresh drinking water (saltwater = upset tummies)
🐾 Rinse off sand and salt after swimming
🔥 Check the sand — if it’s too hot for your feet, it’s too hot for theirs!
🦟 Watch out for ticks in coastal bush areas (even better if your pet is already protected)
🦀 Keep an eye out for fishing hooks and rubbish
🐡 Watch out for puffer fish — they can be very toxic if eaten!

Let’s make every beach trip safe, fun and vet-visit-free this summer! 💙

Does your Frenchie or Pug sound a bit like a snorer, even when they’re awake? 🫣

That could be due to stenotic nares — narrow nostrils that make it harder for brachycephalic breeds (like French Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers) to breathe comfortably.

Surgery to widen the nostrils can make a huge difference to your pet’s quality of life:

✨ Easier breathing (especially during exercise or hot weather)
✨ Better oxygen flow = more energy and stamina
✨ Reduced snoring, gagging, and overheating risk

A small change can mean a big improvement in how they feel every day. 💚

Here’s some before and afters from NIVH!

If your pup struggles to breathe easily, chat with our team about whether surgery might help.

🧸🐾 Some patients bring their emotional support humans — others bring their emotional support toys!

This sweet pup brought his favourite ball along to his appointment, and it helped him stay relaxed and focused while our vets gave him a check-up. 💛

If your pet has a comfort item that helps them feel safe, we always encourage bringing it along to make their visit a little brighter! ✨

⚠️ Tick Season Reminder ⚠️

Ticks are around all year, but they thrive in the warmer months — and this season is proving to be particularly bad.

We’ve already seen multiple tick paralysis cases here at the clinic, and referral hospitals are also under the pump. This is a serious reminder to ensure your pets are up to date with their tick prevention.

Tick paralysis can be life-threatening, even for pets who spend most of their time at home. Don’t risk it — check your pet’s prevention today.

We’ll continue to remind everyone throughout the season in the hope of minimising the number of cases we — and other clinics — are seeing.

If you’re unsure which product is best or when your pet is due, please give us a call — we’re here to help.

🐾 Stay vigilant. Stay protected.

🚧 Renovations are coming! 🚧

We’re excited to be making some improvements to our clinic soon!

There may be a few noisy days ahead, and we want to make sure all our patients — especially our more anxious pups — stay as calm and stress-free as possible. 🐶💛

If your dog gets nervous at the Vets or with loud sounds, give us a call to chat about calming options before your next visit 🩷
