Watching the jugular pump post treatment... Some horses aren't able to hold themselves in this position too long as it requires them to have no activation of the braciocephalic and that within itself requires more investigation.
Cab your horse position their head to allow maximal flow of the jugular and if so how long?
Today was the final day in paradise treating horses and enjoying the company of amazing athletes- human and horse. We finished our trip watching/ strapping (fake it till you make it) at the world cup at Takapoto Estate Show Jumping. Not only was the atmosphere exhilarating but the horses magnificent to watch!
I'll be back online as of Monday the 4th, anyone who has made contact about treatments will be contacted by end of day Monday π€
Looking forward to the 24/25 season!
A relaxed, happy, mobile and supple horse loose reined home after a ride this AM. Removing discomfort removes the rush to do the work and results in a relaxing and more engaging ride.
This fella has been a project with his body and though somethings can't be undone, I'm certainly celebrating the small wins!
The last part of the reel shows how soft and supple the texture of not only his skin but muscle and fascia is now! Only 12 months ago he would have buckled under the curry comb!
This goes to show by increasing their joint range and addressing the skeletal musculo system, we can restore energy and balance back into our horses. This hasn't been an easy or short walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination but certainly a feat I respectfully take pride in!
@heinigerequine_ausnz clippers, coat coming back nicely, due another trim soon
@acavallo_official gel pad with riser to help fill the atrophied areas as fender saddles almost never fit correctly
@megvictoria__ for the challenging exercises to get him using his body with accountability
Bot flies, larvae and eggs...
Kill the eggs, then scrap or clip them off, drench your horses and monitor! It isn't just about vanity but the health of your horse.
I've been keeping a close eye on the newest member to our herd today as she is extremely lethargic after drenching her for bots a couple days ago and passing all of these out and more. We picked her up covered in eggs and I knew she'd be riddled but not expecting this many!
I never want to come across as judgey or vain when I comment to owners about bot eggs on their horses but I do believe that there is a lack of education in some owners. I've had plenty of owners comment that they're "not that vain" to stress about eggs on their horses. It isn't a vanity that makes me comment, its their health. Just because you scrape them off doesn't mean they're not still ingesting them from the green pick you dropped them on to.
The little mare these bots had come out of had received a drench on the first frost and she came from an extremely cold climate too... I went with my gut and killed the eggs on her, scraped them and drenched her after she settled into home after a few days. The poor gal is lethargic and would be processing a lot of toxic burden from the parasite kill I'd imagine (not a vet, just personal opinion)
So see this as an example of understanding their life cycle, how to address them and maintaining their management on your property and on your horses. All those little larvae would have been leeching her of nutrients and causing severe discomfort I'd imagine!

An extremely confronting and life changing clinic over the weekend. Seeing the physical limitations of my personal horse caused by tissue damage all created by human in the training is an extremely uncomfortable and confronting thing to watch. While we have a long way to go in mobility exercises and allowing his vital force to bloom I can finally see a path in which body work and movement will get us close to coming out the other side π€π¦
This has been a topic I've wanted to speak about for so long yet I do not have the years of experience to back me at the moment. But a serious change needs to happen to our training industry (not breed or discipline specific), There was only one horse of the seven at the clinic that didn't have catastrophic man made restriction both physical and mental... 1 of 7!! How is that acceptable!?
We pay plenty of professionals who get away with teaching their way as the best way.
Because they are so successful it's OK.
Because their horses are still functioning it's Ok.
Because the horses don't appear to be lame it's OK.
Because they've been doing it for decades it's OK.
Unfortunately the by-product of this is a horse who has the most beautiful attitude to keep trying, to keep performing to his best to move in ways that guard the destroyed areas and to predict the riders next move in defence of the next ask. And that's the lucky ones...
There is always a better way and it's not until you find it, that you know you've been waiting for it. I do not know how this little yet impactful path will change my work or life but I do know that I have been seeing so many things differently since. It is my hope that one day I can offer clinics such as this one I attended. To make you feel like you've entered a time capsule because the world felt like it stopped for 4 days, and in those 4 days enormous change is created within yourself with the information you carry and within your horse who will move his body with balance and to enjoy life ju
Stoked for the last case study horses to be done, spent the last day as a student enjoying the company of great clients and helping some pretty cool horses today!
Looking forward to being able to give back to this awesome equine community that we have here in the south east!

I've always walked in the mornings but since studying that habit has been broken, back to consistent walks each morning as the daylight increases and the riding season approaches. The horses will thank me later!
This is a quick look into my backyard on a crisp mornin! Next time I'll wear gloves!
