The first one didn't work. So this is Axle helping me pick up the Lucian tornado has made a mess πŸŒͺπŸŒͺπŸŒͺ🀣🀣🀣🀣

So while we have been working diligently on heel work I decided to do more of the fun stuff today. I didn't film the girls but I remembered to video Axle. Goals... to have him pick up a room of toys after the Lucian tornado has been through πŸŒͺπŸŒͺπŸŒͺ

22/01/2022

Tonight I trained all 3 dogs and the new baby puppy and so much talent in these dogs!
Nimue is getting conditioned to clicker and learning to play tug with purpose and structure.
Axle is getting better at focused heel and 'proper' sit, stand and drop.
Marjorie is learning a tiny bit of sit, drop and stand, but also the touch command, and to put front feet on a box and how to play tug properly for training applications.
And mindy? Well mindy has finally switched on her problem solving brain and is understanding to get on the box, touch and other basic commands which, for those who don't know, has not been her priority so far 🀣🀣🀣
*yes my rug is messy
**and yes, Lucian was 'helping'
***and no I didn't do more videos coz it's hot and I was not dressed for public viewing 🀣🀣🀣

As a dog trainer I have found that there is one piece of gear that I prefer to use; a martingale collar. However, they are hard to find in an efficient and user friendly format. This leads to a lot of misuse and miss-fitting of an effective tool. Therefore I have decided to make them. I am offering four colours to start with; black, teal, pink and royal blue. I will also be making matching leads. Hopefully they will be on my website soon, and there will be more options offered there. In the meantime, please message me if you would like to order one. Today I met Bowie. He is an adorable and unusual mix of Irish Wolfhound and Heeler. He is actually a wonderfully sweet guy, but like a lot of puppies chooses to jump to get attention and can be a bit dramatic about the whole thing. We worked on a few changes that his lovely owners can try with him, including some calming techniques, how to advocate for your dog to get the best outcomes in a meet up situation, and how to be consistent with what is required of the dog. I look forward to seeing him as he grows and learns how to be fantastic family member πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•

There are a few ways to teach a dog to hold things. I've found dalmatians can be difficult with this, as opposed to breeds that naturally carry things around like golden retrievers. That's not to say it can't be done. This boy needed to have a method called the guided hold, which is much like when we guide a sit, or pick up a paw for shake. But it's created a fairly solid hold, and is at the point he can do some simply commands at the same time, such as sit, come, drop. His remaining things to work on are soft items and convince him he does not need to give me a high five every time I ask for the item back 🀚🀚🀚

As I have been run off my feet with the Photography side of my life, I did not get this out to everyone in time to start the first week of term. As a result we will likely run one week into the holidays, which will hopefully be ok.
The deal is this - I am running 2 types of classes from next week.
One is a General Training Course that goes for 10 sessions. A full breakdown of what we will cover can be found here (https://www.thatsthespottraining.com.au/trick-training-course-breakdown-1). The costs and discounts for attending the whole course are also there.
The second class is a half hour trick training session that I will run twice a week, but only if there are attendees that have booked in prior. The breakdown for these sessions is found here (https://www.thatsthespottraining.com.au/trick-training-course-breakdown).

Entered and therefore committed to competing in rally obedience again. It's been a few years since I've had a dog and the ability to compete, given work, babies and horses. I'm actually really nervous...πŸ˜ŸπŸ˜ŸπŸ˜ŸπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ
