E.coli infection in poultry is so much harmful but many of us ignore it's source of infection.

Source of E. coli:

Water, feed, contaminated egg and also transmitted horizontally and vertically.

In poultry farm any type of farm gp, ps or commercial maximum E. coli infection breakout through drinking water.

Chlorination in drinking water is so much important to prevent E. coli infection.

Pre-disposing factor of E.coli infection:

Respiratory disease like MG, ND and IB
Environmental factor like Temperature, humidity, high concentration of Ammonia gas and dust in poultry house.

Clinical findings of E.coli infection:

a. Embryo or chick mortality
b. Air sac disease( ASD)
c. Colisepticaemia
d. Coligranuloma
e. Salpingitis
f. Enteritis
g. Swollen head syndrome
h. Dermatitis
i. Synovitis

Characteristics of E. coli bacteria:

Gram nagetive, rod-shaped, non-spore forming, aerobic and facultative anaerobic.

pathogenicity of E. coli depends on the antigenic structure.

There are 3 native antigen of E. coli

1. O (somatic)
2. K (capsular)
3. H (flagellar)

Pathogenic serotype of poultry;
O1, O2 and O78

Prevention:
Any kind of intestinal disease is so much detrimental for birds to survive because digestion absorption occur there.
E.coli infection prevention is the greatest demand for bird. Though maximun E. coli infection breakout through water, so water treatment is the first priority to prevent it.

Shed hygiene and other respiratory disease control keep in mind.

Alert regarding contamination of feed and egg with f***s.
