What a fabulous afternoon!
So many people to thank, starting with Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group for accommodating us in their lovely visitor centre, then to the cake makers for doing such a good job in serving every sweet tooth in a 3 mile radius... Cally, Simone, Diane, Sally&Ian, Dale, Tiegan and Alison, Emrys and Connor who helped with the running if things and to Shell our treasurer who made cakes and manned the stall and did a fab job dishing the cake out to anyone who showed an interest!
But really thanks go to everyone who came! It was lovely to see regulars and older friends alike, from the dog world and personal connections. 🥰
Monies will be added up and shared in due course, as will photos, but for now, thanks so much! 🥰

To tempt your taste buds, we have a cake crisis tomorrow! 😛
Apple cake, chocolate cake, brownies, Irish whiskey cake, sticky toffee cake, smarties buns, iced buns, melt in the middle buns, vegan flapjack and of course, so special pooch treats!
From 12-3pm tomorrow at Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve Visitor Centre. Coffee and Cake for a donation to Mabel's Meals of course. Cash only.
The weather looks dry with a peak of 18° so safe for our pooches with pots of extra water bowls around the visitor centre too.

We need to say a huge thank you to so many people for a fantastic day on Saturday....
- Hebden Happy Hounds for allowing us to attend. It was a great, well-organised event in a beautiful location.a
- Each and every person who donated great second hand items and to those who bought the goods, who all contributed to the £299.56 we made on the stall.
- To all who put their change in our pots which totalled £29.58
This gave a grand total of £329.14
- To all those who spoke to us to learn about us and our mission.
- The Mabel's Meals Team - the trustees who have worked so hard behind the scenes to get us to this point and the volunteers who were the boots on the ground.
Fab day, fab result and the amount will buy more than 36 food parcels. ☺️
We have more events in the pipeline with a cake and coffee event, online competitions and a gig night.
So pleased stay tuned. 😍

A fabulous day at Hebden's Happy Hounds today!
Lots of happy dogs and owners, conversations about what we do, and new friends made... Plus a really pleasing total raised... 🤫😁
We'll do a full post tomorrow but we have to thank Tiegan, Emrys, Ian, Alison, Jenny and Benson for their help! It wouldn't have happened without you. 😍

Some highlights of the Calderdale Way Challenge that Paul - Baxter's Dog Walking and Connor - Woof And Roam completed last Saturday! See the video in the comments.
The Go Fund Me is currently at an incredible £878. 😯
The page will be closed over the weekend so there is still chance to donate.
Thanks to Paul, Connor, Bucky and Dottie as always their generosity and spirit of adventure! And of course, everyone who has donated, liked and shared to spread the word and help us achieve this fantastic total.
This money means nearly 2 years of balanced, nutritional food for one family dog - Just amazing! 😍

We'll be there with some of our fabulous volunteers with second hand goods, plus dog show other stalls and things to do. If you're free, please consider popping down to say hi. It's free to enter and of course, comfortable dogs are welcome! ❤️

🐶 We were delighted to welcome Mabel’s Meals to the Food Drop In yesterday. Mabel’s Meals are a brand new charity working in Halifax and surrounding areas to provide free dog food to foodbanks. Their volunteers Shell and Diane did a brilliant job and ran out of food very quickly. We hope to see them back soon.

And we're off!
Today Diane and Shell visited Tod Food Drop-in with a trial delivery of 21 meal packages with advice leaflets. The other volunteers were friendly and inviting and the customers really appreciated what we had to offer. We could have given away more than 5x the amount though, which is not only really sad, but it reminds us how many are struggling.
This will give us all the motivation we need to fundraise as much as we can to help owners and dogs.

Morning!

I just wanted to share a little more info about what volunteering for Mabel's Meals might entail.
Our key focus now is fundraising!
We've people very kindly running their own fantastic fundraising activities to support us, but the big challenge we need now are bodies for fundraising events at weekends. We've two booked and more in the pipeline but we need to know we can man them. The great news is they are all dog events, so if you enjoy being around other dogs and are happy to help on a stall for a couple of hours over summer, please drop me a message or join us for our meeting this Thurs!
We'll be sharing an update of our process, status and first delivery, but also all our fundraising plans! 🥰 X

Just an update... The trustees are working hard behind the scenes to get everything in place so we meet all the legal requirements and are planning particularly for next year.
There have been a few enquiries from people wishing to make a donation directly. Our paypal is just being finalised, but our bank account is up and running now.

What a fantastic achievement! 😁 Paul and Connor completed the 3 Peaks for us today with Bucky and Dotty! The weather was kind but it's still a grueling walk!
