Great idea!

There is a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approached the counter.

“Five coffees please. Two for us and three hanging.”

They paid, they took their two coffees and left.

I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?"

“Wait and you'll see."

Some more people came in.

Two girls asked for a coffee each, they paid & left.

The following order was for seven coffees and it was made by three women - ‘three for them and four hanging coffees.’

I was left wondering...what is the meaning of the hanging coffees, they leave.

Then, a man dressed in worn clothes, who looks like he might be homeless, arrives at the counter and asks sincerely...

“Do you have a coffee hanging?"

“Yes we do, sir.”

They serve him a coffee.... I got my answer.

People pay in advance for a coffee that will be served to whoever can't afford a hot drink.

This tradition started in Naples.

Amazingly, it has spread throughout the world’s cities and towns.

It’s also possible to order not only "hanging coffees" but also a sandwich or a full low cost meal.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could all start doing this in the cities and towns where we live?

Small kindnesses like this can impact so many lives, in ways we could never imagine.

Maybe we should all try it.😊❤️

Recognize this horse? He was the riderless horse in JFK’s funeral procession that had empty boots turned backwards. A nod to Abraham Lincoln’s funeral.

Black Jack – with his famous white star
Well, he was probably in our time, depending upon the age of the readers here. But most of you at least will have seen a photo of JFK’s funeral procession. In those photos, you always see that marvelous riderless black horse who carried a saddle with boots turned backwards in the stirrups. This magnificent horse was Black Jack.

The origins of Black Jack seem to be a bit muddled. They know when he was foaled, January 19th, 1947. But, they don’t really know his breeding. Most agree he was probably a mix of Morgan and Quarterhorse.

He was purchased by the US Army Quartermaster on November 22, 1953. Black Jack had the honor of being the last of the Quartermaster–issue horses branded with the Army’s U.S. brand (on the left shoulder) and his Army serial number 2V56 (on the left side of his neck).

How Horsepeople know they are rich:
I am rich. I have $50 in my bank account and a gorgeous horse in my stable.
I am rich. I have a truck that mostly works and enough diesel to get to the stables every day this week.
I am rich. I have boxes of pasta and generic sauce in my cupboards and enough hay to feed my horse through the winter.
I am rich. I have enough old coats and sweaters to layer up and stay warm while I do stable chores.
I am rich. My holidays are going out with my horses and going to cheer on my horse riding friends at horse shows. Sometimes I even play too, and spend $10 to bring home a ribbon that I will treasure more than any photo in front of the Eiffel Tower.
I am rich. I have tools: duct tape and baling twine and the know how to fix just about anything with these tools.
I am rich. I find joy in making my own things, making do, and making right. I have a second hand saddle, a 40+ year old body,
I am rich.
My wealth is not measured in dollar signs but in horsey snorts and snickers. My riches aren't spent on electronics and fancy clothes but are shared with my human and four legged friends.
Next time someone finds out that I have a horse and says, " You must be rich to afford that" I will smile, and agree.😊
