Long story incoming 😅
In 2020 we bought a really nice adult male as a nova yb . A year later we paired him to a couple of females only to find out he wasn't nova at all.
After seeing the offspring he produced we backtracked the original breeder of our male . Turn's out he is an offspring of a nice import female .
The original breeder kept the sister of my male and got her to lay her first clutch of eggs this year .
To his suprise alot of the offspring where showing the same bright colours and flamings as ours
So now we are at this point . Is it a new gene ?
It brightens
It got flames
Give's a really nice dorsal stripe
Resembles yb but more intense .
With all this comes only more questions .
Is it in the yb complex ?
Where gonna continue our work trying to isolate the gene and see if it reacts the same when paired to an yb .
Nova yb x fire mojave yb clutch should be layed in a week or 2
Where hoping this could show some more light on this mystery gene and to id'ing it
For now we are calling this gene Photon as we don't know if its an existing gene or a new one
