Sometimes our pet’s digestive system can be upset. Either by something they have eaten, an illness, or because of a stressful situation. Usually the symptoms will pass over time, but sometimes it's good to have a little help.

Pro-Kolin Advanced contains the same high quality ingredients as our original Pro-Kolin, as well as a few extra ingredients to further support the gastrointestinal tract. It’s available as separate products for dogs and cats, with different flavours to please the most discerning canine and feline palettes and is available in 15ml, 30ml and 60ml syringes with easy to read graduations, so it's easy to administer.

Dogs do a lot for us humans and today we celebrate that special bond between mankind and canine.

For those dogs that work with the emergency services, dogs that assist people who are blind, deaf or disabled, or dogs that keep us company and make us happy, today is the day where we can give something back to our furry friends the world over.

While antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals, may be essential to treat an infection or a condition, oral antibiotics and certain drugs can kill some of the beneficial bacteria living in our pet’s gastrointestinal tract, resulting in dysbiosis.

So you may want to consider using probiotics alongside of the antibiotics and for several days after the course has ended, to help maintain a normal microbiota. Probiotics should be administered a few hours apart from the antibiotics so that the live bacteria in the probiotics are not killed by the antibiotics themselves.

Heatstroke? Act quickly!

If you suspect your dog is suffering from heatstroke, it's important to see a vet as soon as possible. In the meantime there are a few things you can do:
• Move your dog to a cooler area
• Spray cool (not iced) water on their fur
• Make sure they have plenty of air circulating around their body
• Offer them water if they are conscious

Thinking of adding pre and probiotics to your pet's diet?

Speak to your vet about adding probiotics and prebiotics to your pet’s diet to help support their normal gut function, which can easily get disrupted by the excitement of being in a new environment with all of those new smells and new people to play with!

Sometimes it may be necessary to change your pet’s diet for health or other reasons. We can guide you through the best steps to ensure your pet, and their digestive system, will have chance to adapt comfortably.

• Stick to your pet’s usual meal times.
• Introduce any new food over a 1 week period.
• Start by replacing a small amount of the old food with the new.
• Keep the overall amount of food the same.
• Gradually increase the proportion of new food.
• By the end of the week, they should be eating the new diet alone

The summer holidays are nearly here and whilst your pet may be delighted with the extra attention from the kids for a few weeks, it can also be an unsettling time for them.

Extra care needs to be taken to make sure doors and gates are kept shut so that pets can’t escape or run out onto busy roads. And with BBQ season in full swing, it’s important to make sure that food isn’t left where your pet can eat it. BBQ favourites like corn husks and meat bones can be a real choking hazard. So take precautions and enjoy a wonderful summer with your pets and kids.

The digestive tract is home to both ‘friendly’ and ‘bad’ bacteria, collectively known as the microbiota, which plays a vital role in maintaining your pet’s digestive and overall health.

Digestive disturbances can occur when there is an imbalance of the microbiota in the digestive tract (known as a dysbiosis). This can be due to a sudden change in diet, treatment with antibiotics, stress (e.g after travelling or kennelling), or an underlying digestive issue.

Our unique combination of probiotics and prebiotics helps to maintain
digestive function to contribute to healthier, happier dogs and cats. Head to our website to find out more.

Pro-Fibre advanced supports your dog's normal digestive function and gastrointestinal immunity. It's best given once daily, but if your animal is unwilling to take the whole amount in one go then the dose can be split between two meals throughout the day.

It should be mixed with ambient food rather than hot food to avoid killing the beneficial bacteria (probiotic) it contains. It's also best to leave the pellets whole but if your pet is a bit fussy then they can be lightly crushed.

If you’re planning a road trip, always include some stops at pet-friendly places, because pets need a break too.

Always carry a good supply of p**p bags, to make sure you’re never caught short and always ensure there’s plenty of water on board to keep your furry friends hydrated.

Most importantly, NEVER leave dogs and cats alone in your car on warm days. Even if it’s cloudy, temperatures inside your car can reach dangerously high temperatures, so park in a shady spot and keep your windows open.

It’s not just us humans who need sunscreen!

Pets with light skin or short coats are particularly prone to sunburn, especially on the nose, mouth and ears. Ultraviolet (UV) damage can sometimes lead to skin cancer, so it’s really important to apply sunscreen to vulnerable areas. Sunscreen should be unscented and waterproof, with an SPF greater than 30, and be specially formulated for pets so that it doesn’t contain ingredients, such as zinc oxide or para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), that are toxic to cats and dogs if licked from the skin.
