Still hot here. This is Annie, who is being fostered by Hadrena. She'll be available for adoption at the end of September. For more info pm me.
We're having some unexpected and much needed rain. Look at the swallows enjoying a shower.
Did manage to give Bailey his haircut and wash. The morning didn't really go as planned but hey what is new. I had to shuffle dogs around to make room for our unexpected newcomer Rennie. 🤬 Looking quite smart I think. Not my usual lawnmower cut. 🤣
I got a panicked call from my neighbour this morning. The man, who is using an old house and land opposite to farm chickens, threatened to kill her dog because he said she has been killing his chickens. Now he has no fencing to speak of to protect his chickens. He does have a tiny dog on a short chain without decent shelter, clean water or decent food, that we hear cry day and night. Nothing else I could do but take her dog to be with us. Rennie is a sweet girl. I have fed her, treated her for ticks, fleas etc, got her neutered for years. Did she kill the chickens? She might have but so could any of the other free roaming village dogs, foxes or jackals. Surely it is the owner of the chickens job to put up proper protection for his livestock? And look after that poor little dog he keeps there?
New toys arrived from Sam for Bailey after Clarissa, the little greyhound destroyed the lot.
Asked my husband to get some courgettes for katy's food. 😭
You could think I was cooking for us. Noooo. This is for Katy. Katy only eats pizza, Bulgarian hamburgers (kofte), ham and live yoghurt. Apart from the yoghurt nothing that she should be eating. The list of suitable food we tried looks like war and peace. Yesterday I tried this. No it's not perfect but better than where we were. Whole wheat tortillas filled with egg, yoghurt, cottage cheese, spinach, peas, turmeric, probiotic, bit of black pepper and mozzarella. She looooooves it. For now anyway. She still gets a bit of ham but now I soak it in water to get the salt out.
The things, that were stuck in the UK for about a year, arrived here today. A big thank you to Kiril Hristov who made this possible. Thank you so much for your kindness Kiril. Thank you too to Sam who bought most of the stuff, to Food Fairies for Street Dogs & Cats for all the chicken fillet dog snacks and to Maxine Hopkins who bought the much needed buffalo horns for margo which we fill with pate when she spirals and needs to calm down, and a bag of toys for little Bailey after all his were destroyed by clarissa 😁

These are in the UK
Never ending. 🥵
Just 2 friends hanging out. I saw a post where a lady in Bulgaria posted that we rescuers are wasting our time. That saving 1 dog at the time won't change anything. I seldom comment on this stuff. This time I wrote that saving 1 dog won't change the world, but that it does change the world for that dog. It did for Timmy and many others that have been or are being saved.
Liz still looking cheerful. I'm getting scared now.😱. In the picture you can see how cross eyed George is. Makes me laugh every time he looks at me.
Bought an indestructible toy from Temu for Anina our pitty. Anina Looooves toys and plastic bottles. She flat packs them for me. 😂.. Anyway toy arrived yesterday. Nasty piece of hard plastic, no squeaker or anything. Judge for yourself. Her face says it all. Yes it's indestructible because nobody likes it!!!
Started on the Christmas sewing. Very late this year for me. All my little helpers are there

Just want to say a big thank you to everyone who bought one of the paintings I posted recently you raised £275 with a bit more to come this has been sent to Maxime for the dogs 🐕 ❤️❤️
That's better. Upmarket snacks. 😂. Mechko the karakachan is looking a bit ragged. He needs to be put under anaesthetic to be groomed here. It's been too hot to do this safely. Mechko cannot be handled safely. Once it gets a bit cooler I'll try to get it done. All the dogs are confined to their kennels for a few days. One of our fences is down. It was hanging on with the help of a climbing rose and a lot of luck. 😂. Valentin our builder is on it.
Update on Timmy. The little boy with the horrid wound on his neck. As you can see it has almost healed. He is now a happy cheeky boy and he has found a good friend in Bailey. Now just his fur needs to grow back.
Have to post this picture. It's the first picture EVER!!! where Lizzie doesn't look disapproving. Unbelievable 😂
Please people stop sending me pictures of dogs that need help. This is not 1 message a day but most days more than 20. I'm full, my fosters are full. It is starting to make me physically ill and mentally exhausted. I would love to be able to help them all but it's just too many. Ask me if I have room before sending pictures of suffering, abandoned animals. Having to say no whilst knowing that my refusal most likely will mean that the animal dies, is taking its toll
Ran out of fancy snacks. They are coming in on Tuesday. In the meantime my poor starving 😂 dogs are getting cheap biscuits as snacks. Not impressed clearly. .
Update on Timmy.
Our 2 little girls, Katy and Clarissa, neutered yesterday.
Had a bit of time this morning. Thought I'd try my hand on a pipe cleaner dog.
Timmy doing so much better.
2 days ago I got a call from a good friend that she picked up a little dog from the road with an ingrown rope in his neck. She brought him here. I cleaned up as much as I could and managed to get the baling twine out of his neck. Shaved the matted coat off and treated him for fleas and ticks which he was crawling with. He went to Madlen the vet yesterday for bloodtests etc. Positive for heartworm and aneamic. He is about 10 plus. No front teeth and the remaining molars are rotten. These will be removed after 6 months. We cannot do anything until we are more on top of the heartworm and the wounds around his neck. So atm doxycycline and steroids. Neck cleaning daily. Our lovely friends from Food Fairies for Street Dogs & Cats in the UK covered his medical costs. I'm so grateful for this. They named him Timmy. I have sanitised the video a bit. I keep forgetting that what is now pretty common for us is not common for normal people. Welcome to Timmy who has joined our pack of misfits and delinquents. 😂
Not on the bed. Definitely not on the bed. 🤣
Sunday morning smile.

Young George has joined our group. George belonged to a friend rescuer of ours, who raised him and his siblings from pup. George was the smallest of the litter and on top had parvo. His siblings were all adopted but George has health issues probably remains from the parvo. Last Saturday George was attacked by his pack and almost killed. He has horrendous bite wounds and bruises all over his body and is lucky to be alive. Once this happens a dog cannot go back to the group. They will attack again. My friend made the absolute right decision and handed George over to us. George will live with Clementine, Lizzie, Bailey, Katy and little Clarissa. And yes he is totally cross eyed. 😂
One mini chihuahua rehomed and the next small one has arrived. Little Clarissa. Mini pinscher. Tiny ball of fun. Very smart little girl. Tiny!!!! Eats dog food. Yeah!!!!! And she has just been adopted. She will be joining Dessa the chihuahua as soon as I can get her ready for travel.
First time that Katy felt relaxed enough to have a nap without being held. Before she would only sleep when I held her and she could put her paws around my neck and her face hidden in my hair. She has separation anxiety not surprising. This little old dog lost her owner, her home, was left in a shelter.. Lost and lonely, grieving, stressed, sick with an UTI. Not the first time that we have had dogs like her here. So lost and confused just makes you cry. You want to help but you are not the person they are looking for, you don't have the right voice and smell, you don't know what they like to eat even, don't speak the right language, don't know their name. This!! Relatives of people ,that have passed away, is what you are doing to their beloved pets. When you discard them like they are old rubbish without any feelings. Is this how you honour your grandparents, parents!!! Disgusting behaviour!!!! Rant over.
Katy another difficult eater. We've just gone through this with little Dessa. OK so we tried every type of dry and wet dog food. Chicken in every shape or form, beef, fish, liver, heart, gizzard and now we're are getting in the realms of the crazy. Yesterday she ate cold chips and ham. Didn't want that this morning. She finally settled for bread soaked in raw egg. This is the 3rd trial for lunch. Bulgarian hamburger (kofte), Bulgarian sausage, raw steak, yoghurt, potato, rich tea biscuit. Yes I did mention we are in the realms of crazy.
