More kittens dumped!! ๐ก
Yesterday, we found one kitten in our dumpster. Not sure how she got there but we hope it wasnโt intentional.
Last night at 10pm one of our staff had to go back into the office to collect some paperwork. On arrival she found 3 little kittens who had clearly been left on the front porch.
They wouldnโt know how to fend for themselves in a new area and were vulnerable to both dogs and cars.
When we say we are full, we really are. Our shelter has 3 times the number of animals that we can manage, both physically and financially.
Please, spay and neuter! Itโs the only way to stop this craziness.
These momma cats can have 4 litters a year. So simply bringing the kittens and not getting momma fixed is unacceptable.
One unspayed female cat can have up to 400 kittens in her lifetime! Just think about that!
Baark! offer free spays and neuters! There is no such thing as โaccidental littersโ. For those that donโt believe in spay and neuter, come and volunteer at the shelter and see what we face. Open your eyes to the suffering around you. We hope that soon there will be laws in place that require you to spay/ neuter or have to pay a large fee to keep an animal intact.
Cats and dogs are domesticated animals and should not be on the streets. Many donโt survive and suffer from starvation and illness.

If you would like to become a foster parent to a kitty or two, please reach out. Either call the shelter or DM us with your number and we will pass on this to our foster group.
Itโs a really rewarding experience and youโll have support along the way! You also get the chance to adopt them in a foster to adopt situation.

As many of you are aware we are facing a huge overpopulation crises ๐ ๐ in The Bahamas, many of which are in need of help. This varies from the broken and injured to the young and vulnerable.
What is really upsetting is that all this suffering is completely preventable. Spay and neuter is the only humane way to control the population.
Weโve had a huge intake of neonatal puppies and kittens in the last month. These are the ones who are rescued off the streets. Many remain on the streets, slowly dying of illness, being eaten alive by rats, drowning when heavy rain fall or being hit by cars. ๐ข
Thankfully, we do find Fosterโs for some of these babies. We are so grateful to our fosters who help us save so many lives. ๐
One incredible foster, who regularly fosters little pups, took 5 home. Unfortunately, all passed away. This is the first time all died for this foster momma and itโs extremely upsetting for her. This is a video of the last baby who was fighting until the end. ๐
Itโs utterly heartbreaking to watch, but nothing in comparison to the heartbreak for person who took them in and cared and loved them.

Yesterday, this beautiful and happy kitten, was horrifically thrown out of a car window. Thankfully, someone saw this and scooped him up and brought him to us ๐ ๐
Weโve named him Roger - he is so cuddly and has the loudest purr. Such a special little boy! โฅ๏ธ We will get him healthy, vaccinated and find him the best home!! We can never understand how some people can be so cruel towards animals.
Thank you to all those people who are caring and helping these innocent animals.
