Jack Russells are very smart and have a strong drive to explore the world around them. Although that means that they can excel at various training exercises it also means that they have to be intellectually and physically stimulated all day long.

They aren’t dogs that will sit quietly in the corner and ponder the finer intricacies of squirrel chasing – they are dogs that will tirelessly seek out, find the squirrel and give it a run for it’s acorns. If left to their own machinations, especially indoors, they are known to wreak havoc when bored.

For that reason they must be well trained from an early age and you must keep them interested and entertained at all times. A testament of their intelligence is how Jack Russell terriers are the preferred canine actors in movies and on TV – learning tricks and complex routines is easy and fun for them.

The Jack Russell Terrier

Upbeat, lively, inquisitive, and friendly, the jaunty Russell Terrier was developed by England's "Sporting Parson" for use in foxhunts. The adorable Russell Terrier looks like a plush toy come to life but is an eager, tireless working terrier.
These jaunty little fellows pack lots of personality into a compact, rectangular body standing 10 to 12 inches at the shoulder. Their dark, almond-shaped eyes and mobile V-shaped ears bring out the keenly intelligent expression'an endearing hallmark of the breed. All three coat types are mostly white with markings that are tan or black, or both. Russells move with a free, effortless gait that announces the breed's innate confidence.

🐾🐶Dog terminologies/ things you need to know 🐾‼️Avoid mistakes‼️

🐾Dog breeding-Practice of mating selected dogs with the intention of maintaining or producing specific qualities and characteristics.

🐾 Dam - the mother of a litter 🐾Sire - the father of a litter.
🐾Stud - a male dog who will impregnate the female.

🐾 Puppy Mills- where purebred or “designer” dogs are bred solely for the money (Puppies are taken away from their mothers too early and Disease, genetic disorders because of inbreeding are usually common)

🐾 Inbreeding - breeding between dogs who are close relations e.g. father and daughter, mother and son etc...(can result in genetic defects) 🧬

🐾 Outcrossing - breeding between dogs who are completely unrelated.

🐾 Line breeding - breeding two dogs who share the same bloodline but are not closely related in order to emphasise and fix certain genetic features.

🐾 Whelping - the act of a female dog giving birth.
