It’s not finished yet but I just had to share a sneak peek of our new duck house, courtesy of our OG sponsor Renée, and our incredible volunteer Mike.

A couple of weeks ago a mink (one of the worst predators to birds), got to our duck family, killing 3 and wounding several others. We thought our duck house was secure and predator-proof. We were wrong.

The old house is now a sad reminder of the tragedy, and how we failed these animals. We will be dismantling it and burning it piece by piece.

This new house will provide some cheer and beauty, and keep our ducks safe for many years to come. We will never forget what happened, but this is our way of honouring our duck friends and spreading a little joy in their corner of the farm.

🛑Thank you for your donations; we now have more than we need!

And despite our best efforts to avoid this, we also received some moldy, rotten carved pumpkins, that we now have to dispose of. Hopefully next year we won’t have to deal with any more of those.
