A fantastic thread on this post with an open discussion between trainers on what an “aversive” actually is. You may be surprised.. It truly is the dog that decides what a ‘reward’ and what a ‘punishment’ is; when it comes to training.

There is no such thing as “force-free” and “positive reinforcement only” training. With a certain dog, saying the word ‘No!’ alone can be highly aversive.

That’s why I think we should just do away with labels and call ourselves simply, dog trainers.

At the end of the day, any good dog trainer’s goal is to clearly communicate with their client’s dog in the most rewarding way; and least uncomfortable way; possible.

You don’t get in to this business unless you love dogs and have a passion for creating excellent relationships between them, their person(s) and their environment.. Aka your goal is to see them THRIVE! 🥹🐶🐕🦮🐩🐕‍🦺

A very thought-provoking video on dog trainers versus behaviourists.. Great dog trainers are not married to any specific ideology. Meet TUBS! 🥹🐾🫶♥️ Our newest puppy to be welcomed into the K9 Friends family. 🥰 Tubs is just 8 weeks old and an olde English bulldog. His awesome new parents(Tom and Alicia ☺️) realize they importance of laying a solid foundation when it comes to puppy training and behaviours. 🙌🏼👏🏽👏🏽 So they’ve entrusted us, the K9 Friends team, with their precious new bundle of joy! 🥳🥳🥳 Tubs will be enjoying 10 puppy training sessions with us during his daycare days. 😍 He’s only been here a day and we’ve all fallen in love with him. Looking forward to many more days of fun walks, snuggles and playtime with Tubs!
