Jewel!💎
How beautiful is this adoptable girl?!😍
Our awesome and caring friends at Oshawa Animal Services reached out to us for help with finding one of the dogs at their shelter, Jewel, a Bailey Chair and we were on a mission to help!
Bailey Chairs are most commonly used for animals like Jewel with a condition called Megaesophagus. When they eat in the chair, their esophagus is vertical which allows gravity to move food down the esophagus to the stomach.
We put out a post for help, and as always our community pulled through!👏🏼 not only did Jewel end up with a Bailey Chair, but she ended up with TWO which is amazing for whoever adopts this sweet girl. One for home, one for travel? Maybe one will help another dog in need as well! So many options!💛
Our good friends at Little Brown Dog got to work quickly on building Jewel her very own custom chair!🥹 I’m amazed at how well done it is, especially for Mr Little Brown Dogs first time! 🤯 All of the little details make it soo special 💖. They even made the trip to deliver it and meet the sweet girl themselves.
A second chair was brought to Jewel from our awesome friends at Critter Cabs! Their volunteer team pulled together and were able to get her a chair all the way from Erin, to Oshawa! 🚗❤️
I absolutely love when our community pulls together for animals in need. This is what it’s all about!🥹🙌🏼💖 #togetherisbetter
Myah!💛
Sweet Myah came by today to try on some wheels! 🛞💛
Myah is 13 and unfortunately I having some progressive issues with her spine that have been affecting her hind end mobility. She can still walk for short periods, but was having a hard time going for her favourite walkies with her siblings and couldn’t make it very far lately 😔.
As soon as we made some adjustments to the chair that we tried on, Myah was instantly comfortable and was walking around like she owned the place!🙌🏼 👏🏼
We were able to give her some grippy socks to help her inside the house, as well as a set of Muttluks to protect her feet when they drag outside❤️.
Enjoy your walkies Myah!🥰 I can’t wait to hear how you do over the next couple of weeks!
Tango!💛
This handsome lad is Tango!💛 Tango is unfortunately battling cancer 💔 and he’s not able to jump into the truck as easily as he could before.
Today we were able to set Tango up with a ramp to help him and his dedicated Mama out 🥰. Now he can get in and out easily, and his Mom doesn’t have to hurt herself trying to lift him every time. Win win!
Enjoy your truck rides buddy! 🛻💛
Shaggy!💛
Handsome Shaggy came by today to try out one of the quad wheelchairs that was donated by English Bulldog Rescue of Ontario a couple of years ago! 🛞💛
Shaggy was referred to us by our friends at Pawsitive Animal Wellness, to see if we might have a chair to fit his needs.
Shaggys pawrents are amazing and have done absolutely everything possible for him since adopting him from a kill shelter. Sadly, he was hit by a car a few years ago before he went to the shelter and required amputation of his rear leg, and although his brace has been doing its job to keep Shaggy running around on his injured front leg like the happy boy he is, he needed something to help him get around when he takes a break from his brace.
It took lots of adjustments and MacGyvering to figure out what made Shaggy the most comfortable, but we weren’t giving up! Once we hit the right adjustments, Shaggy let us know with lots of tail wags and he was moving around comfortably!🙌🏼
With love, patience and practice, this boy is going to be running around in his wheels in no time and I can’t wait to see it!🤩
Ragnar!💛
Beautiful 11 year old Ragnar’s Mama drove him all the way from Ajax to come try on some wheels! 🛞💛
Ragnar sadly has Degenerative Myelopathy and has been having more issues walking around than usual lately. Despite his diagnosis, this beautiful boy still has lots of spunk and drive in him🙌🏼. He caught onto his new wheels immediately, like he had always had them! His Mom is excited to be able to take him places like fun trails and rivers again that he hasn’t been able to go to in quite a long time🥰. We were also able to give him a comfy sling that will help with his regular potty breaks!
Have fun buddy! I can’t wait to hear all about your new adventures.🐾💛
Kipling!
Eeek! Just look at this adorable little guy!🥰
Kipling is a very special little man. He is a newly rescued double amputee from Mexico! He lucked out finding his amazing forever family who is going above and beyond to make sure he has everything he needs to live his best life 💛.
Kiplings family lives a few hours away from us, so since he required a small wheelchair, we were able to ship it out to them and find the perfect fit based on his measurements 😊.
He just tried on his new wheels today and is figuring out what they’re all about. We can’t wait to see videos of him ripping around when he’s more comfortable with his new digs! Doesn’t he look great in them?!
You’ve got this Kipling! 🐶🙌🏼
Gromit!
This beautiful boy was referred to us by our friends and amazing veterinarians at Presquile Animal Hospital!🐾💛
He has been having trouble with his back end since September of last year, and his pawrents have been trying everything they can to help him.
Dr Natacha at Presquile Animal Hospital was one of the amazing vets who cared for our boys Diesel and Max 🥹 and has known and supported my plan to launch Determined as Diesel long before I actually went ahead with it. Her support really meant the world, and I’m so happy that we were able to work together to provide a Walkin' Pets wheelchair, Help Em Up Harness and Muttluks booties to protect his feet to his family to help give this boy a new lease on life🥰.
Happy zooming, Gromit! We love you buddy!💛
Stormi!💛
Sweet Stormi was diagnosed with IVDD last week 😔 but as scary as that was, and still is, her family never gave up hope!❤️🩹
She has been on strict crate rest and her medications to keep her calm and pain free, and her family is doing everything possible for their strong little girl. She is doing so well after just a week of rest, and is able to stand and use the washroom on her own again which is huge!👏🏼
Stormi was feeling a bit cooped up having to stay inside and rest all the time, but thanks to your donations to Determined as Diesel, we were able to loan her a stroller to get outside during her bed rest, a Help’em up Harness for when she’s able to walk around more again, pee pads, diapers in case she ends up needing them again, and some crib mattress protectors to protect her bedding when she accidentally pees in her pen.
Her family was so excited to be able to take her out for a walk to get some fresh air that they took her out right away 🥰. She was so content and loving taking in the scenery.
I’m excited to see Stormi’s progress as she heals. Please send her allll the good vibes and well wishes!🙏🏼 She’s got this!💪🏼
Cookie!
Look how happy Cookie is at home in her wheels!🥹😩❤️
These updates are the best payment I could ever ask for 🥰
Cookie!
This little angel is Cookie!🍪💕
Cookie is a spunky little 14.5 year old girl who suddenly lost function in her back end last week 😔. This new reality didn’t stop her one but though! She didn’t slow down at all and showed her Mama and vet that she wants to keep on truckin! 💪🏼🐶
Thankfully, her vet at Rossmore Animal Hospital saw one of our posts the night before (meant to be, or what?!🥰) and he suggested that they contact us to try to get some wheels to help Cookie through this time. She is still trying really hard to use her back legs, so we’re hoping this is only temporary and that the wheels will help her as she regains strength and mobility🤞🏼.
We were able to loan Cookie a wheelchair, some booties to protect her feet, some grippy socks and some diapers 🙌🏼 and Cookie very kindly donated a brand new box of pee pads to help another pup in need as well🥰. We’re so thankful for her vet recommending us! The joy in her eyes when she wheeled around was the best sight ever💕.
Go Cookie, go! 👏🏼 🏎️ 💨
Gracie!💛
How sweet is Miss Gracie?!🥰💛
Gracie is a beautiful 12 year old senior girl. She was having a hard time getting up and walking around without slipping lately 😔 so her pawrents reached out to see if we had any suggestions.
Thankfully, with the help of your donations we were able to send Gracie some grippy socks and booties to help her get around the house! She’s doing amazing with them so far and we’re so happy for her!🥰💛
Nibbles!💛
The strongest girl in the world - Nibbles!
Back in June of 2023, before we had officially launched Determined as Diesel, but had already been collecting supplies and wheelchairs, Nibbles parents had posted on a local community page in search of a wheelchair for their 15 year old sweet little girl🩷. She was losing muscle mass and movement in her hind end, but still had the spunk and drive to keep going.
Luckily, a couple of friends sent me her post and I happened to have the perfect supplies available for them. Nibbles went home with a new wheelchair, Help em Up Harness, some booties to protect her feet, some washable diapers and a stroller so she could still go on longer walks with her family 🥰.
This week I received a voicemail from Nibbles Mom stating that they no longer needed the supplies anymore, and they were ready to return them. My stomach sank and I was initially heartbroken thinking that they had lost their sweet little girl, but when I called back I got the best and most unexpected news.. Nibbles is walking again!🥳 The wheelchair helped her to slowly build muscle mass back in her hind end, and her Mom said she walks and runs around again, and can even go up stairs!😭💛 her family is so happy with how well she’s doing now with the help of her chair and other supplies, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of that phone call🥹.
Nibbles has returned her supplies to our loaning program for another pup in need to be able to use. She is the perfect example of being as “Determined as Diesel” and I’m so glad we were able to be a part of her journey 🥹🙌🏼💛
