Cash will be officially adding a few letters to her name. She earned her Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) at the Red Barn Event Centre through Simcoe Performance Dogs. Very happy with this pretty girl.

Great first morning at Caledon Kennel Association’s All Breed Show!

Very proud of how Cash (Gowans Off the Record) handled her first time in the ring just a few weeks shy of her first birthday. (Tarquin Altura x Gowans Harbinger of Spring)

Do you know the original purpose that the Bernese Mountain Dog was developed for?

Many people are aware that Berners were bred as draft dogs that worked pulling carts with milk to the local dairy (often accompanied by the youngest child in the family who would hitch a ride on the cart on the way back home). However, Berners were also bred to drove cattle and various livestock. They were also bred to serve as a watch dog who would alert their family of intruders or strange things that would find themselves upon the farm. So if you’ve noticed your Berner likes to alert you when people are at the door, that is a tribute to their original function as an all around farm dog!

It’s important to know the facts. Here are some reasons why we require all puppy owners to wait until at least one year to spay and neuter our puppies.

In order to recieve the benefits of late spay/neuter, please wait until the dog reaches full maturity. This is not necessarily the first heat for females or first sign of puberty in males. Full maturity is when the growth plates have fully closed. This is a different ages for different joints and small to large breeds. The animals need the hormones from their go**ds to regulate growth.

Arbrook Bernese

Always having been a dog loving family, in 2015 we started discussing the idea of possibly getting a Bernese Mountain Dog. Having admired the breed for many years we searched for months to try and find a breeder that we could find a smaller sized Bernese female to start with. We found Sandylane Bernese and immediately knew this was where we wanted to get a puppy from. In July 2016, almost a year after deciding to get a Berner, we brought Stella home. Since the start we have grown to love this breed of dog more than we could have ever imagined. We are passionate about breeding healthy, loving, loyal Bernese Mountain dogs that are on the small side of the breed. Feel free to contact us to learn more, we are always happy to talk about how a Berner could be the perfect choice for your family!
