My dog Peppa calling off chasing after crows.

While it was a lot of ‘work’ to get to this point, working on recall has been and should be fun for both dog and human.

I’m quite happy with her recall but I’m not done training it, yet. There’s still certain scenarios where I wouldn’t bet my life on her coming back, so we keep training.

The valley of disappointment is real and a lot of dog owners give up on training when they find themselves in it, claiming that the training didn’t work.

More often than not, it takes a lot of repetitions and a fair amount of time to get to your goals. It can be helpful to keep a journal or otherwise keep track of your training to help recognize the progress made.

I am a host at this year’s lemonade conference, bringing together some really amazing and accomplished trainers and behaviour experts.

Just listened to a presentation by Suzanne Clothier learning about how dogs bodies (should) move to learn recognize when things are off and I feel like I will have to re-watch it a few times to let it all sink in.
