Well you're in luck! If you started a worm bin NOW, you could feed them much of your spray-free garden trimmings, and even the roots of finished annuals. Keep those worms happy with your fall leaves, too, and some kitchen scraps through the winter.

Germination rates for our home garden nearly doubled the first year we added castings to our seed-starting mix. π Now, it's something we always recommend including.
Seedlings will love up to 20% castings in your seed-starting medium, but any amount will provide a symbiotic microbial community with benefits unique to worm castings. A mere tablespoon can save a struggling plant when applied as a top dressing!
