The text message you never think would happen. The text that will stop you from sleeping. Charlie deserved better. Clients will never realize how we fall in love with their pets. I cannot imagine how hard this must be on Charlie’s parents. Last night the sky opened up and took him back.

WHY I 'IGNORE' YOUR PET
When I walk into your home, I always 'ignore' your anxious or fearful pet (cat or dog) and wait patiently for them to make the first move.
I don't crowd them or touch them without consent. I don't face them head-on or stare them in the eye. I just observe them without putting them in a worse emotional position. Even when they venture close to me, I refrain from touching them. And no, I don't extend my hand so that they can smell me as they could smell me when I entered the gate already due to their keen sense of smell. Extending my hand just scares them. No sudden movements. No loud voices. Just calmness. I wait patiently for them to initiate contact and communication with me. Even then, I limit contact to 3 second bursts.
I 'ignore' your pet out of love and respect. I give them choices. Choice based behaviour modification builds self-esteem and confidence.
Now you know why I 'ignore' your pet...

Girl in the middle- Cocoa needs your prayers. Buddha, Allah, Jesus, Mother Nature- the universe. Whomever you worship please include her now. Sometimes your clients text you the worst of news. But deep down you know they will make it. You feel the spark. This sweet baby is really sick. I’m heartbroken.
Come on Cocoa fight. Not yet.
There are clients that come in and you just know. The past year every time Icey was on my table - I’d whisper in her ear. “I love you. Whenever you are ready it’s ok to let go”
When I went to see her and she lay panting in the grass the message changed. “I love you, I think it’s time Icey. He’s going to be ok- Dad will be ok. This is my last kiss. Go run Icey- you’ll be a puppy again.”
Yesterday her pain stopped. The world lost a great dog. 17 years Icey- you will be missed so much 🐾🐾🎈🐾🐾
We’ve only had Sasha for 2 grooms! What a difference in the cut. She’s already looking like a new girl. Go Sasha 💜!

Meet Cooper and Rebel. The first time I picked them up- it took me over half an hour to coax them out of my car. They were a 10/10 on stress, anxiety and reactivity. 3rd groom- it’s not perfect but not biting, no snarling, no peeing on the table. They have done amazing strides.

One of the best parts of my life are working with high anxiety and reactive pets. Oreo is a Jackapoo- super anxious. So glad her Mom came. She’s going to love me one day- and get more fabulous as she relaxes.

Sometimes you wonder - “Am I ok? Did I make the right decision? Am I making a difference?” Then these two walk into my door. Gingersnap and Oreo- slobbery kisses all over your face and tons of affection. Didn’t love a grooming shop but thrived in a home environment. I fell in love today 😍.
Super adorable puppy - Aspen. Who’d much rather lay down and get belly pats than be groomed 🤣

Meet Whiskey! This why I am a home groomer. Mom contacted me today and they just adopted him. 2 year old Golden Retriever from a farm. Mr. Man was a bit stinky and needed a good bath before going to his forever home. Love those who reach out and I can help them right away.
No lady I will not pose- I’m a Cocker Spaniel so I have the God given right to hang my head. Love this Sable- Mom and Dad are rescue and fosters for many rescues. Doing a great job 👋🙏
