Mungo’s Books for Dog People is my way of putting goodness out into the world and making things better for dogs and their people in Canada.

2025 by the numbers:
19 years of Mungo’s Books
23 years as a professional dog trainer
28 years as a bookseller
And Wren is 15 now (and the first time in decades that I’ve had a single dog…but we are both thoroughly enjoying our time together.🥰)

This is a picture of Mungo many years ago, at 15 1/2 - still active and loving life. She was the inspiration for Mungo’s Books and I’m so proud to have her name on what I do.❤️

Trainers from around the world gathered on-line this afternoon to honour, remember and thank Karen Pryor.

I’m in awe of the difference that she created and shared and sent farther than seems possible.

The words “trail-blazer” and “change-maker” were heard over and over again…because she simply was.

Inspiring other people to take what you have to offer and continue spreading change for the better is the legacy that we can all aspire to leave.

Now we can go on with a bit more determination to be change-makers in our own corners of the world…because Karen Pryor showed us that this is absolutely possible.

I’m filled with sadness at the loss of Karen Pryor, and with great admiration and gratitude for what she has brought to all of us in terms of understanding animals and how to communicate with them, how to be fair with them, and how to share knowledge with any being in a better way.

What a legacy!

I was in awe when I got to have a conversation with her many years ago. She may have given me the highest value reinforcement that I have ever received…She told me how much she loved Mungo’s Books!❤️ And she thanked me for the work that I was doing in Canada! Karen Pryor!!❤️

There is a worldwide community of trainers, teachers and coaches who are better because of her, and who spread wider every day the wisdom of true communication and understanding.

There is great power in this. It’s how we can make a difference. She gave us this…and now it’s up to us.

She has left the world a kinder place, and that is everything.
