Notification: In anticipation of the impending cold snap, we have decided to keep many of the horses indoors on Monday and Tuesday. Horses with higher energy levels and/or anxiety will be turned out for one to two hours while stalls are being cleaned, after which they will return to their stalls. This measure will help retain body heat within the barn, reduce the risk of water lines freezing, and provide outdoor horses with increased access to shelters. We kindly request that all doors remain closed as much as possible, including during stall cleaning when doors must be opened and closed each time you enter and exit. It is recommended that riding activities be limited for the safety of the horses.

🚨What should you look for in a mobility supplement? 🚨

There are a ton of mobility supplements on the market for horses and it can be easy to get confused by all the labels and promises. Best way to tell what you're getting? Check the labels and the levels.

Here are the ingredients you should be looking for when you shop:

-Glucosamine, of course. The basic building block of all connective tissues, this ingredient can often be found in Glucosamine Sulfate or Glucosamine HCL. An effective dose is usually between 6,000-10,000mg/scoop, with working horses needing more.
- Chondroitin sulfate is a major structural component of cartilage, bone, and tough connective tissues like the whites of the eyes. Its greatest benefit is preventing further cartilage breakdown. Recommended dose is between 1,250-5,000mg.
-MSM is an important anti-inflammatory. It can be fed alone but requires a MUCH higher dose to be truly effective on its own.

Don't wait until your horse is lame to start a joint supplement, some of the damage that can occur is irreversible no matter how amazing the product.

If you have followed my
( Healthy Horse Nutrition ) page for the last couple of years then you already know that Arthritis is an inflammation of a joint that causes pain and stiffness in horses. Once the swelling gets severe enough, lameness can occur.

But what exactly is happening?

In a normal joint, each bone is protected from rubbing against the other with a healthy layer of cartilage and synovial fluid, all encapsulated by the synovial membrane. This is what allows the joint to move with ease.

Arthritis can often develop after the normal structure of the joint is changed, through trauma or infection. Movement of the roughened bone ends or damaged cartilage can lead to synovial fluid damage, causing swelling and restriction of movement.

This can get severe enough to cause bone spurs and lame up a horse completely.

Flex Guard stimulates the flow of synovial fluid and greatly decreases the chance of cartilage degeneration.

Deworming and Vaccinations dates are coming up
I will be putting up two separate lists for both.
Dewormer will be $13.00 each and would like like all horses done on the same weekend
March 30/31

Bennette equine services will be out Saturday, April 20 at approximately noon to do all five vaccinations.
WE WILL NO LONGER BE Administrating the STRANGLES vaccine on either property as we feel this is possibly playing havoc with false positives in PCR Tests.
If any horse is needing in your opinion, a strangles vaccination, you must bring it to my attention prior to being done ✅
If you’d like Bennette equine services to do vaccinations on April 20 I must have the list completed by the last week of March 25th.
As soon as I receive a quote for vaccinations, I will post the price. WE ASK THAT ALL BOARDERS BE HERE FOR VACCINATION DAY or have a friend ( not staff member) to help catch and hold your horse.
Disappointment is usually done within 30 to 45 minutes if everybody is there and on time

If you are not using Bennette equine services, Please arrange for your own veterinarian to come and do spring vaccinations within the week of April 20 to limit any side effects.

Just wanted to let everybody know that at the home farm starting February 7 and once a month being the first Wednesday of February, March, April, and May I have rented the indoor arena out for one hour from 7 - 8 PM
Typically this is a very quiet evening, so I felt this would work out nicely and hopefully not be an inconvenience to anyone
So the dates again are February 7, March 6, April 3 and May 1 between 7 PM and 8 PM
