We often talk about our HORSES Energy.

As a social worker by trade I often find it fascinating how owners can describe their horse to me and I have a uniquely different experience with them as we are asking different things from them.

ENERGY is the key and in order to balance our own we need to make sure we are taking the time, and making efforts to protect, nurture, and care for ourselves.

If we don’t, our horses can feel it even before we make any physical contact with them.

In my experience:

Some horses are empaths. They absorb our “ick” and release it for us in yawns, and goofy behaviours. I have one of these and he is a barn favourite for his ability to transform your energy with his own beautiful abilities. They’re often referred to as “therapy” horses.

Some are mirrors, and send it right back to us. Sometimes they make us wonder how THEY are doing without doing our own self check in OR we call them names because we are failing to understand and recognize what WE are doing to make them mirror our s**t.

Some are so unbelievably sensitive that they feel threatened by bad vibes and on those days they are hard to catch or accomplish anything with because we are acting predatory with our emotions, and they just want to escape us!

Whatever you’re bringing to the table, own it.

Not sure how to deal with it?

It starts with self awareness.

It should involve some breath work and mindfulness too. Take the time to ground yourself before starting anything, ESPECIALLY with the mirrors and the sensitive babies if you want to get anywhere with them!

Here are a few questions to help you navigate and put your energy to positive “use” each week, and get you thinking.

I personally discovered these today & wanted to share out!

All of this post is just my opinion based on experience, and the insights of my mentors.

Looking for something therapeutic to do with your horse while grooming or even following a ride?

Start by making sure your energy is good.

Take some deep breaths and relax ♥️

Use this chart as a guide with your hands.

Warm up

Warm the muscles by nice long strokes all over your horse. You can do this after walking them around a bit to really achieve more fluidity, especially if it’s colder outside.

Application

Using 1-2 fingers, find the trigger point areas on your horse as per the chart, and lightly hold them (1-2lbs pressure) for a bit and see their reaction.

Nose quivers, skin twitches etc will tell u there is tension, so hold until you see them release, then move onto the next point.

Do both sides of the body and if you noted any areas you think they would need more , go back and try again!

This can be done pre and post work out ♥️

Enjoy!!

We wish u all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year♥️

Joy & Grief can co-exist is my mantra this Holiday Season.

Horses are so special and bring love, joy, challenge, sorrow, they truly bring it all.

They make us stronger.
They make us connected to others who have felt all the above emotions with them in our presence.

Horses are Healers.

It is my absolute pleasure to help heal them when they need it most.

Again, thank you to everyone who allowed me to share space and energy with their equine companions in 2023.

Due to the recent passing of my horse, I am going to take the remainder of December off to make sure my energy is solid before engaging in massage sessions with your precious babies.

Thank you for all your support in 2023.

Looking forward to brighter days in 2024.

Feel free to PM for January sessions.

I want to talk about having a horse with underlying medical conditions and to be honest, just owning a horse!

It’s exhausting & it’s rewarding.

It’s a learning journey.

It’s many opinions coming your way, wanted or unwanted, they still keep coming.

It’s sleepless nights.

It’s endless tears.

It’s good days where you completely forget all the stress and you just enjoy being one of those lucky horse owners that gets to Gallup in the wind and discover the mountain trails.

Then it’s a stumble, and that stumble turns into lameness. Then it’s like overnight your horse is crippled again and all of those joyful Mountain moments seem to fade as you watch your horse shut down before your eyes.

Your heart breaks.

Then….

It’s trusting in the universe, and knowing that each and everyone of us has their time on earth numbered and our horses are not an exception.

It’s watching them slowly recover on the days you were planning for the worst but hoping for the best in life.

And yes, there’s all kinds of risks and all kinds of rewards and you learn even deeper that having a horse becomes a risk and a reward all in one furry little package.

It’s not knowing what the future holds but also being realistic about the fact that…..do any of us really know what our future holds?

It’s being there.

Being their comfort during their pain.

Being their light in their darkest hours.

Experiencing them “light up” as you come to the barn and medicate, and evaluate, and stress, and worry, and plan, and love, and cry , and laugh, and love some more, and, and, and.

It’s seeing that number on the clock is ticking by way too quickly and you know life‘s responsibilities await you once you leave the barn.

Every time you leave you squeeze them a little tighter, wondering if that’s going to be their last memory of you or if you’re going to be lucky enough to continue to love them for many years to come.

It’s not always the best of times and it’s not always the worst of times, but it is about being grateful that you got to spend all of that time with your four-legged soulmate that you’ve made part of your life, your heart, and your family.

You don’t need to be tough to ride horses….you need to be tough to own and care for them each day.

Remember you’re their light, especially in their darkness ♥️

On the road to another massage, not knowing what to expect!

Today I got to work with the largest and most gentle giant I’ve ever worked on. He makes Tucker look small!

We had a great session and he even got a little “excited” a few times too!

Each horse is a blessing in my heart.

Thanks so much for the continued support!

I’ve got some availability in December so PM me to make it happen!

The fuzzy winter massages are truly my favourite ♥️

I’ll never forget my “shopping spree” I was taken on at Irvines one year.

I had all things horse tack and my husband laughed and said “ so, what are you getting for YOU?”

I think I put back a saddle pad to get a pair of jeans at that point, but honestly, loving a horse lover means just that below lol

Ask my horse 🤣

Energy.

It’s so important and is a major intention I have been putting forward in my practice.

Before I work on a horse , I try to talk out loud to it first if we get a chance. Yep, kinda crazy that way lol.

I let it know where I am at, and what my intentions are for them during the session.

I find it has helped reduce any conflicting energy I may be holding because let’s face it, we all have s**t we are carrying when we go to the barn and they can feel it.
Might as well acknowledge it for them.

So no massage tip BUT a tip equally important ….talk to your horse before you get into “it” and see how the energy shifts🌈♥️🌈

Today was his day to be checked in on and supported ♥️ My sweet Tucker who has been the longest relationship I’ve had in my life 🥹💜

I am learning as I go when it comes to taping but this guy really embraced every application ♥️

We kept it on for the field ride and for the most part , it didn’t bother him.

He also didn’t trip as much which shows me once I fine tune his leg taping application, it would be idea to use for now as he is showing mild signs of arthritis.

His face was very tender and he was quite reactive to touch. The tape really brought him some peace.

Scorpio New Moon tonight!

Between that, and some of my day dreaming about what kind of 2024 I want to have, I really want to bring all of the positive vibes into my buisness & my passion for equine body wellness.

I’m setting some ridiculously big goals behind the scenes and am hopeful the universe guides the opportunities my way as time goes on.

What are you manifesting this new moon and how can you include your love of horses into these manifestation?

It’s big but rub season, and you get paid in “air puff” kisses on the back end 😳

Trying to get a buisness going is not easy.

There are absolutely moments of beauty, kindness, connection, and purpose. There are those who appreciate you infinitely.

For those who have shared the success of your horses after a session, or call me “ magic hands” , oh I love u and hold your kindness so deeply in my heart.

There are also moments of struggle, pain, self doubt, and hopeless.

There is hurt.

There are those who choose to criticize, and sometimes, those are some people who you wouldn’t even expect it to come from.

It’s all part of daring to live your life from a space of “ Daring Greatly”.

Anyone who chooses to take risks in their life, follow a dream, make a daring and bold move to chase that dream, and Try. Fail. Try, try, try, again……you’re going to have critics, failure, setbacks, and all of the above.

Just remember, being in the “arena” and getting your ass kicked for something that you believe is a part of your soul’s purpose, IS part of the process.

I’m just getting started♥️ with this dream and it’s going into year 3!

Don’t give in or give up.

Remind yourself The critics don’t get a seat at your table and it’s ok to run a buisness with these things in mind.

In fact, it’s essential.

So, I’ll be here, workin on my buisness for another coming year💙 because when you choose to dare greatly with your life, the risk is high and the rewards are great.

That’s how I choose to live my life. That’s the kind of person I am.

I loooove K Tape!!!!!!!

Tonight, our sweet pup “rolled his ankle” and yelped like he broke it.

I checked for mobility and it was fine but he was still so sad.

I applied a K Tape strip, and one across the joint to help him along.

Within 5 mins he was up off the couch and moving around!

I can only think that it gave his brain some extra support for proprioception, and he realized it was gonna be ok!

It’s truly magic tape.

Voodoo Tape?

Whatever you want to call it, it works!

I love using it on horses who are highly reactive to touch but need to get the massage and circulation process going.

It’s truly one of my favourites!

I was chatting with someone today who wants to get into the industry and has had hard luck getting any information out of anyone.

To me, that’s an industry fail.

Here’s the thing, I am NOT going to be for everyone and everyone’s horse.

This is where I am grateful for a community of therapists that can support the horse where it’s at.

It doesn’t have to be me working on your horse in order for me to feel joy for you that your horse is feeling good.

Let’s not get so lost in the “buisness “ of horses that we forget it takes a village to make them feel good and be all that they can!

If that’s me helping, awesome!

If someone else clicks for u, then I’m happy u found them!

And any time you can help someone chase their dream, don’t be a dick….just do it. Maybe one day they’ll be helping you chase yours?

Things have been pretty slow so it has given me time to work on my own horses. They’re enjoying all of the hip releases, leg massages, and shoulder releases these days as their bodies are adjusting to the cold weather.

One thing I always find interesting is how the differing seasons affect their bodies.

As winter approaches and horses are eating more out of the hay nets set up higher, you might find they will be experiencing more stiffness in their cervical spine as well.

This is where massage can help.

Additionally , leg massage to help promote circulation to improve their capacity to perform thermoregulation to stay warm is another great area of focus for massage in the winter months.

I’ll be posting some horse owner ideas for massage over the next few months so even if you’re not accessing a Therapist, you can still help make them comfortable♥️

Stay warm out there!!

I have weekends in November and can do some days too if you want massages for your ponies, just PM me to book for $60.00 sessions.

Starting 2024, I need to increase my rates to $80.00 per session.

It’s still well below what most are charging , but helps with fuel, supplies, and vehicle maintenance.

Plus, I am much more confident in my experience and abilities now that I have been able to work on so many horses.

I will be adding KTape to each session too.

Thanks!

“Life is so much simpler when you stop explaining yourself and just do what works. “

Between the imagery and the quote, I felt this today.

I could easily dissect every area of my life with this quote but today I’ll choose to focus on horses.

I am beyond guilty of explaining what I’m doing and why I am doing it when it comes to :
♥️being in the saddle or
♥️caring for my horses as well as ♥️massage techniques used and why I am focused on certain areas during a session.

Too often I get caught up trying to explain what I feel or why I am doing what I’m doing. Even more so when I feel people are not seeing it the way I feel it.

It leaves no room for intuition , mindfulness, deep breathing, and really being in the moment for what it is because I am trying to logic myself into something I feel, so I do it.

Massage is all about connection, feel, intuition, and the skills you learn during certification are the logic. My style differs from others and I don’t need to explain myself, or compare myself. I do what I do and if it works for you, great! If not, you don’t need to explain yourself to me. I want what’s best for people and their horses and if it is someone, or something else , I am 1000000% ok with that ♥️

Horses deserve that.

A human that authentically shows up for them and brings that “ I’m here, we are a partnership, and we don’t have to explain ourselves to anyone” kind of love.

The connection between a horse and their human goes beyond anything we can explain to on lookers.

We owe *****no explanation ****for our actions ( done in love obviously). We just owe each other mutual respect, understanding, support and care to do what works for us as a team.

Forget explaining yourself to those committed to mid-understanding you anyways and always move forward together making choices that you don’t need to explain yourself for.

Simple as that♥️

Today was awesome!!!!

I got to support a new client horse, and work on both of mine too. ♥️.

The client horse has a soul that radiates kindness. I truly feel like a better human , just by sharing energy with him.

This is my TBear & he really enjoyed our intuitive session, just letting him guide me to his tense spots.

I’m always grateful I took the risk because the “rewards” are wonderfully worth it.

08/21/2023

Todays thoughts….

If you’re doing something with your horse because you think you “should”, but aren’t getting any real, long term enjoyment from it, it’s ok to switch it up.

Horses should be loved. Horses should be enjoyed. Horses should be protected and cared for along the path towards our goals for them. Horses should come first.

So no matter what you do with these beautiful animals, it’s NOT the ONLY way to do it. It’s the way that makes you feel all of that joy, accomplishment, and feel a sense of purpose as you team up with them.

Don’t compare your success with them to anyone else.

Your horse is teaching you, just as much as you are teaching them and every human has a different path of growth and development with their own horses.

Sometimes, they teach us to slow down.

But they push us to be better for them.

My goals will differ from another, but it doesn’t make my path less important than someone in the winners circle, or a champion barrel racer taking home the stampede prize.

♥️🌈♥️🌈

So if you have some time this week, go hug your horse , and simply say “ thank you for choosing me, out of the billions of humans in the world♥️.”

I’m sure they thank YOU every day for choosing them out of all the pretty horses in the world too.
