Posting for a friend:
2006 18hh Clyde x Tb mare by Walsh (x Seattle Slew), Evie is truly a special mare looking for a new place to call home. She spent many years being trained in dressage and has an absolutely beautiful flowy movement. She was then sold to a lesson barn where she was used for lessons as she loves kids and human connection but did not do well working in a lesson program. Evie does best with someone where there is an established bond.
Evie has been out of work for 3+ years, and her body condition shows. She is a very easy keeper and essentially gets fat on air. She is currently on a low NSC pellet daily for essential nutrient maintenance and netted hay 24/7.
She has not been ridden by her current owner so for recent assessment purposes, we lunged her in both directions, W/T. She did not willingly pick up a canter, nor did we push her. She does canter beautifully in the field. She accepted tack with moderate ease. She is a bit head shy so will raise her head when haltering, or in this case bridling, but leads very willingly. She saddled easily, but wised up very quickly to mounting attempts. Again, did not push on this day.
The best fit for Evie would be a confident and experienced rider, perhaps someone looking for a trail buddy or to put Evie’s Dressage buttons back to good use recreationally. Should the latter be the case, a PPE is recommended. Although she can be alot of hourse, once she knows she can trust you, she will give you her heart.
Evie is UTD on farrier (every 6 weeks), shots and deworming. She is barefoot and does have a split on the back right inside hoof heel, which is easily maintained with consistent farrier work.
She is top of the pecking order and does well in a mixed herd. She is a very social gentle giant with humans and horses. She particularly loves younger horses, and became very motherly with a yearling we had for a period of time. She is respectful of fences and loves to be pampered. She prefers to be outdoors, but does fine coming in for the vet / farrier / and daily rations.
Evie does have mild heaves. She is currently unmedicated and has the occasional flare up. She would benefit from being on seasonal maintenance and square bales outdoors if possible.
This horse means a lot and will only go to the right home. Asking low 4's. Motivated to sell.
