Why spend the money on a real grass potty system?

1. They will start p*eing on other things around the house

Training a puppy or mature dog on artificial synthetic grass is very difficult because it is essentially like p*eing on any other flat artificial surface in the house. If you can eventually get you dog to p*e on an artificial grass system that uses fake dog potty grass for dogs you are very lucky, but that is only the start of your problems. Once they start p*eing on synthetic grass they are prone to p*e on other similar things like bath mats, door mats, rugs, blankets, etc. Natural dog potty grass is the grass dogs are used to using when they go for walks, and this makes your job of training them much easier. A fake grass system is the most difficult grass dog potty system to use.



2. No absorption

Most fake synthetic grass dog potty systems come with some sort of drainage pan that supposedly collects all of the urine that passes through the fake grass. This is just not the case. Urine ends up staying on the surface of the fake grass and if your dog does use the system he will be stepping on that every time and spreading small urine remnants all of your house. When you use natural grass as your potty solution you have a natural absorbent that works perfectly. Urine is absorbed down into the roots and soil of the grass and won’t sit on top. Fake potty grass for dogs does not have the absorption needed to be a clean option.



3. Nature vs. Nurture

Dogs are naturally drawn to real natural grass, you can see that every time you take them for a walk. They are instinctively drawn to the scent of fresh grass. Why work against the natural tendency. Attempting to train your dog to p*e on fake potty grass for dogs is literally like overcoming nature. With real grass you will have an immediate weapon in your task of potty training.



4. Nightmare to Clean

There are no two ways about this one. Synthetic / fake grass dog potty systems are very difficult to get totally clean. This results in an unhealthy situation for you and your dog. With a fake grass system you will want to clean your system at least 2 times per week. This would include dumping the urine filled reservoir, unpleasant to say the least. If you are living in an apartment this would mean pouring it down the toilet and then washing the urine soaked and probably pretty smelly reservoir / tray in one of your sinks.

After that you will have to actually clean the plastic grass service with very strong chemicals to get it really clean and minimize smell issues. These chemicals are harmful to your dog, your home, and the environment. These chemicals can also be costly as well.

With real natural grass you are dealing with a product that is a natural absorbent urine will be immediately absorbed down into the roots and soil and stay there until it is removed and replace with new fresh grass every 7 – 14 days.



5. Eco-Friendly

Using synthetic / fake dog potty grass is all around terrible for the environment. The production of synthetic grass releases a number of harmful CFC’s into the environment and all the chemicals needed to clean it are even worse. Natural grass is fully degradable and safe for the environment.
