Hi Everyone!! I've signed up for the 50 km Dog Walk Challenge for the Canadian Cancer Society because I want to take action and make an impact. And I would love your help. Whether you donate a lot or a little, every bit counts!!

For the month of May, my dog walking profits will go towards the 50KM Dog Walking Challenge in support of the Canadian Cancer Society! If you would like to be put on the list for dog walking in may, you can send me a message!! Or if you would like to start sooner, even better!!

It’s been a busy couple weeks! Last weekend, I had the pleasure to watch Louie and Sheamus while their families were out of town! Louie was super nervous at first and unsure of me but with some patience, he learned to trust me super quickly! Sheamus was super happy to see me too!especially when he knew he would get some treats!

A couple days ago, Daisy was excited to see me come to drop in and take her for a walk while home by herself for the day!!

Today, I am off to see Maggie & Max🐶🐶 along with a stop in for Peaches🐱

Since there has been a lot of new followers to my page, I figured I’d introduce myself again!🙂

🐾Meet the sitter/walker🐾

Getting to know the person you are leaving responsible for your pets is so important!

My name is Felicity! I am a furmom to 1 cute kitty, 2 adorable bunnies, (and 1 bunny angel👼🏼💗)! Animals has always been such a huge part of my life! It can never be a bad day when your surrounded by such cute, loving furry company! I’ve been pet sitting and walking for family and friends for many years now, which I love every minute of as it brings me so much joy! This is why I’ve decided to extend my services to those who made need it in the area as well! I have been working with the SPCA for almost 2 years now which has given me a lot of insight on how to care for animals including giving medications, handling, etc. I have so been a volunteer with North Atlantic Remote Vet Services for 1.5 years! Anyway I can be involved in helping animals, I do whether it’s helping find them homes, rescuing them, helping get some exercise, or dog sitting while their owners are away!💗

While caring for your fur baby, I ensure to always send updates along with some photos to keep your mind at peace knowing they are well and happy!! As you can see in the second collage, it’s always happy faces while I’m there!🤗

With his parents out of town for the day, Zephyr couldn't contain his excitement today during his checks ins! with check ins every 2-3 hours, it gave Zephyr a better feeling rather then going all day and not seeing anybody! It also gave mom and dad a sense of relief getting updates along with some silly pictures during each check!

If you are going out of town for the day, give me a message or call to ensure your fur babies get the best care while gone 🐶 💗

Happy Clarenville day!! Just a friendly reminder to all the fur parents that If you are celebrating tonight within the community, make sure your pets are secure inside with some kind of noise to drown out the sound of fireworks! The Fireworks will be going off at dark so you can plan on putting your dogs outside before the sun goes down! The last thing you need is for your fur baby to be scared and lost..

Heat stroke in dogs is a very serious issue, especially reaching temperatures like it did today in the area!! If anyone is looking to have their dog walked, I will start to offer later evening walks if owners would like the option on hot days! This way, the dog can get its daily exercise the safest way possible! For the safety of the dogs, I will not be offering walks during high peak heat waves throughout the days! Safety always comes first, especially for our furry friends!!🐶

Tip Tuesday!

We finally have some warmer weather! 🌞 I know that many of us, including me, are delighted about this. It is a good reminder, though, to consider the interior temperature of our vehicles where pets are involved. I was surprised to see how quickly the heat can build up inside a vehicle. We have all heard of the expression 'Cat Nap'! To say that an average cat naps a lot is probably the understatement of the century! 😸 😸

How many hours does an average cat 'nap' and why?

While every cat is different, all cats sleep a significant amount. “Most cats sleep between 12 and 15 hours a day, but they typically sleep in several short bursts, rather than all at once like humans tend to,” says veterinarian Marty Becker, DVM, an adjunct professor at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

And kittens sleep even more than that if you can believe it! “Kittens need more sleep than adult cats, as their bodies and brains grow, develop, and absorb all the new experiences they have each day,” explains Dr. Becker. “Kittens can sleep up to 20 hours a day, and they tend to play hard and sleep hard.”

“Cats sleep a lot, and that is in part because they’re wired as stalk-and-rush hunters,” says Dr. Becker. “They are used to being active in short bursts to find and kill prey, with a meal and a nap afterward. Multiply that by catching eight to ten mice a day.”

They may not be sleeping as soundly as you might think.

“Even though it may appear that cats are in a deep sleep, they are still very alert to their surroundings,” explains Jodi Ziskin, a healthy pet coach and the director of communications for Treatibles. “They can spring into action if they hear or smell something of interest.”

The sun and warm weather is starting to show which means walking season is soon to be full swing! summers can be very busy for families travelling and enjoying the sun but don’t forget about your pup wanting some too! Look at how happy the pups are on their walks😍

Did you know walking a dog exercises their mind as well as their body? exploring new paths, seeing other people with their pets, and just getting some fresh air is a great mental stimulation for your dog that they just cannot get in the same area all the time, whether it’s in a fenced in yard or on the run out by the door.🐶Walking also releases any excess energy they may have built up and helps the dog sleep better at night!💤😴
