Elite Service Canine Sadie and her person have come SO FAR in such a short amount of time.

Elite Service Canine Chaucer and his person worked so hard today!

Chaucer is learning to “Front-Block” his person at every cross walk and/or intersection. He isn’t to cross until she asks him to. This keeps his person safe from accidentally walking out into oncoming traffic.

In this short clip you will see Chaucer’s handler ask him to “cross” but he remains solid and planted in his “Front-Block” position.

This is because we asked a fellow driver to stop in the middle of the cross walk. Chaucer is learning intelligent disobedience. When it is not safe for him and his person to cross the road he will not listen to her command. This will let his handler know that it is not safe to cross and will catch her attention from other distractions around them. Allowing for them to safely cross the road together.

We got a pupdate from sweet Ludo!

He’s gotten so big & even more handsome! Ludo has been playing, learning and growing back home with his phenomenal breeder, but is soon to be reunited with his family!

We are excited to welcome another service pup prospect from .retrievers to our Elite Canine Family later this December! 💚✨

Elite Service Canine Patches checking in from Nova Scotia! ⚓️

Patches turned 5 months old yesterday!

His person reports that he is so impressed by his ability to not let new things bother him and if something does he recovers and focuses on the job at hand very quickly.

They’ve even discovered the wonderful game of hide n’ seek and we aren’t sure who loves playing it more!

Way to be team! 💚✨

✨Blitzen✨

Blitzen is a 9 month old Kelpie! He is so smart, curious and eager to learn! Blitzen’s parents usually take him to the woods off leash for exercise and to burn off steam. They struggle with him on leash. He’s a strong fella! Today Blitz worked on some basic foundational skills and body positions and absolutely rocked it!

Way to go buddy we are so proud of you! 💚👊

Please take a minute to read a bit about our recipient and her family below💚✨

“From the day my daughter was born she was a girl with a “little extra” You see she was born with Down syndrome, an extra chromosome in every cell of her body. She requires extra care as she has many complex medical concerns, and a continually growing list of “extras”

I don’t think anyone truly knows the debilitating affects of living a life as a single parent of a high needs complex child who also has a disability and many chronic health conditions. Being in a constant state of stress as you continue to fight to have basic needs met. Continually having to request assistance, advocate for better care, services, rights is both overwhelming and exhausting, there is no true reprieve. The feeling of being alone, knowing there is something physically wrong with you, yet you have no energy, resources or time for self care. I am at the point of self preservation and just getting through each day. The pressure of being the one and only and a feeling of sadness that you are failing is a true internal struggle.

This has led to a personal diagnosis of PTSD and FND, yet more “Extras” for my wee family. Often overwhelmed yet eternally optimistic has become my new motto.

My journey began with a little extra. A little extra enthusiasm, a little extra innocence, a little extra charm and the most unconditional love, all packed into one extra chromosome, inside one extra special girl.

My hope is that with sharing a part of my story with you, you are both inspired, and see the immense value in supporting my family in fostering/raising a puppy that will become our service dog. You will be a part of the “little extra” help we so desperately need. A way to bring light to us and enable us to truly shine. I thank you for considering our family and I look forward to the many little extras the future has to hold.

Our dogs ALWAYS have the freedom to choose. We help them manage the outcome of their choices but we never choose for them.

You see that dog right there in front of you? Looking up at you?

What they need is trust, patience, kindness and compassion.

They’re looking up to you for guidance, reassurance, love and most importantly it is your job as their handler to make their life a little less uncertain and a little more inspiring.💚✨

We are looking for a puppy raiser/foster for a Labrador Retriever Puppy!

Details:
•The pup will be joining our Elite Service Canine Program
•You must be located in the Comox/Courtaney/Campbell River area
•You must be able to bring the puppy to class at least once a week
•Virtual sessions are on top of this
•You must be able to take the puppy to all vet appointments
•You must follow all of our training guidelines & protocols
•You must be able to provide a safe and clean environment
•You must be able to provide exposure training
•You must be able to dedicate time each day to the pup
•Food & Vet bills are covered, there is no cost to you
•You are expected to potty train and put the basic foundations on the puppy (you have unlimited access to our trainers by call, text, email etc…)
•Commitment we’d be looking at a timeline of a minimum 6 months to a maximum of 1 year
•There will be an interview process, home inspection and contract to be signed
•Must be willing to set up dates with our trainers and the pups family for visits and during the integration process
•You must be able to provide unconditional love!
