On November 8, we honour Indigenous Veterans Day and remember the thousands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who served with courage during the First World War, Second World War, and the Korean War.
More than 12,000 Indigenous veterans served with distinction in every area of service, and Indigenous Peoples continue to serve at home and overseas today. As we reflect on their contributions, we also acknowledge the challenges many faced when they returned — including denial of benefits, support, land, and rights.
We honour their bravery, their sacrifices, and their lasting legacy.
