How is your snow day? Our staff dog Lily is loving it! She is a Japanese Akita and Rottweiler mix. Her double coat protects her from the cold and allows her to lay in the snow no matter how deep it is 😊 Recall may be a hit and miss today, but nothing is more important than her having fun and enjoying her favourite time of the year! ❤️

This is Finnegan - a 4yro mini Aussie 😊 Finn has a bit of separation anxiety and has come a lonnng way throughout the years. 💜We walk him on quiet streets and trails, keep him occupied with sporty activities, and stick to his routine to make him feel comfortable.

Finn barks to show excitement, which is common in many herding dogs but misunderstood. He is agile, smart, attentive, funny, and sweet. He thrives on huamn interaction and company. We are so happy to have walked and house sat him 😊💜

Do you know cats have anxiety related health issues? Scoutti loves having humans around. Even though she is an independent lady who enjoys solo outdoor expenditure, we spent the weekend with her to ensure that she always has a warm body to go to and cuddle with😊

Lynoel - another senior dog we had the chance to spent 3 days with.

This border terrier mix recently had leg surgery, but was lively as ever. With that in mind, we walked him gently and peacefully around the neighbourhood. Lynoel surely enjoyed the sunrise and sunset.

Lynoel is selective to men, and reactive to cars and other dogs on the street. With the stress of the owner being away, his physical condition, and the limited time, we tried to avoid the triggers and be mindful of surroundings.

We gave him enough space from the main road to feel safe and secure, and Lyneol was able to remain calm and undisturbed when cars drove by most of the time.

You have a fast car, but sometimes senior dogs just want to enjoy a peaceful and quiet walk. And that is okay. 😊💜

Daisy, 11 yro domestic shorthair cat, was said to be skittish and scared of people, but quickly warmed up to us when trust and comfort were provided to her while her owner was in the hospital.

We gave her consistent patting and rubs on her head and cheek, and gave her time and space to approach us.

From hiding away to cuddling by our legs, Daisy seemed to have learned that having people around is not a scary thing.

Ever since the first day’s visit, she waited at the bottom stairs by the front door everyday, greeted us, purred, and talked the entire time during the drop-in visit.

We took many photos and recorded videos and sounds of Daisy and sent them to her owner during their recovery.

We understand how soothing and reliving it is to know your companion is well taken care of, to see them healthy and happy, and to know that our cats and dogs miss us and are always waiting for us to come home.

Taura is a 4-yro Siberian husky who came on a road trip with her parents. We kept her occupied for 2 hours while the owners took surfing lessons at the Lawrencetown beach.

Taura has very high prey drive. We watched her posture when she sniffed and explored, and held the leash tight in case of sudden jerking or lunging into the bushes. We let her sniff and explore, but also redirected her to shift her focus and come back to us.

Taura has a lot of stamina as a husky with an outdoorsy and adventurous lifestyle. Even though she always wanted to keep going, we asked her to take breaks.

Together we took in the sea breeze, stood with our bodies relaxed, observed wildlife in the distance without intrusion, watched cyclists passing by, hydrated and recharged our energy.

Two strangers enjoyed a long walk in the nature—it was a very pleasant two hours for both of us. 💜

Chloe is an 11-year-old cockapoo we house sat over the past week. For this senior dog, we made sure we respect her routine, comfort level, and her existing lifestyle.

We let her lead the walk around the neighbourhood, and decided when it was enough to go home.

We took cues when she needed downtime, cuddles, and potty breaks.

We focused on being a calm and trustworthy warm body she could rely on, and provided her with life essentials and medications instructed by the owners.
