Sure, I can train your dog to behave differently/better with ME, but only YOU can fix your dogās behaviour permanently. Iām here whenever youāre ready to get started! š
Letās discuss what it means for your dog to be āsocialāā¦
What it looks like to dog most OWNERS:
Their dog āwanting to be everyoneās friendā and actively engaging excitedly in new places with everything/everyone in that environment.
What it looks like to dog TRAINERS:
A dog who can successfully remain neutral, and connected with their handler, in new environments and around new stimuli (people, dogs, cars, etc).
Trust me when I say that the latter will create a better connection between you and your dog and will help to curb oodles of unwanted behaviours.
I share because I care and you donāt know until you know š
How long will it take to fix my dogās behaviour(s)?Dog training is very similar to the fitness world, in the sense that dog training/fitness professionals are there to give you information, a plan, and coaching to reach your goals. If you do not take that information and put in the time, youāre not going to see the results in either case.Iād also follow-up with the notion that dog training and fitness both require a lifestyle change and are not a quick fix. In short, youāre going to get out of it what you put into it.
3 Tips to improve your dogās recall 1. Only say the verbal cue ONCE. In order for your dog to understand a verbal cue, you need to associate it with the same physical response EVERY TIME in order to give the verbal cue meaning. 2. You need a backup plan, that allows you to follow through, if they disregard the verbal cue. For example, using a long line allows you to physically bring your dog to you if they decide to blow off your verbal cue. 3. Always make coming to you a good thing (even if they blow off your verbal cue and you have to follow through physically).Happy training š
In a nutshell: without having worked with you, I donāt know you, your dog, or the dynamic in your household, well enough to give effective training tips & advice. If you are struggling with behavioural challenges (and especially aggression), the best advice I can give is to hire a trainerā¦ even if it isnāt me.All the best š
If you want an animal mainly for cuddles and emotional support, please donāt choose a dog. Owning a dog requires considerable knowledge, time and energy in order to fulfill them and curb problem behavioursā¦ love and cuddles wonāt cut it.
Cats are a great option for folks looking for all the cuddles and a fraction of the work (they even come litter-trained for Peteās sake!)
Choose wisely š
If youāre happy with the way you live with your dog then Iām happy for you.
Alternatively, if youāre not happy, or would like help, then Iām happy to help you get started in the right direction.
Itās as simple as that.

SCARY SITUATION that hopefully can help you keep your dog safeā¦

Note: group classes are NOT a starting point for training or for addressing behavioural struggles. Group classes are for proofing your established foundational training.
XOXO Leanne
This client always jokes with me that, āweāre your number one fansāā¦ but the truth is that itās the other way around; Iām THEIR number one fan!
Helping clients, and then having them do the work to keep getting better (even when that means asking for additional support), is exactly why I enjoy training PEOPLE to train their dogs.
Thatās all I wantā¦ for people to truly enjoy their dogs. BUT they have to want it more than I want it for them š

Your dog is a predator. I know that itās in a cute, floofy package and named āScruffyā now, but itās still a predatorā¦ capable of all predatory behaviours.
Acknowledge and respect this. Train your dog well to avoid unwanted situations where they have the potential to carry on as a predator naturally will.
Sidenote: there were also many dog owners that day who gave sufficient distance and I appreciate you š

So much to unpack here, but Iām going to keep it simpleā¦ if you cannot reliably call your dog(s) out of play, then they shouldnāt be engaging in play at that level yet.
Iām constantly explaining to clients, ādonāt turn it on unless you can turn it off.ā Being able to shut down a behaviour and get your dogās attention back to you is an underrated skill. It has the potential to save your dogās life one dayā¦
I can call my dogs off play, chasing after ANY animal, approaching people/dogs they donāt know, etc. You can too with the right knowledge, practice, and consistency.
Itās good to have goals š
Why is a structured walk important? Watch this to find out (I donāt feel like typing a long-ass caption haha) š
Snoopy is AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION with A Dogs Life Fostering Network Kenora Ontario and is being fostered in Fort Frances.
Snoopyās foster mom contacted me for help getting him to walk nicely on leash and to learn some basic, foundational life skills. Heās a real sweet natured dog and will be a great addition to the right family š
I would suggest that his new family schedule a training session, for a smooth transition, and to set everyone on the path to success. I will take 20% off that training session for whoever adopts him.
Happy tails, Snoop! ā¤ļø
DID YOU KNOW that fosters, with reputable rescue organizations, get 20% off training with me? Now you know š
PSA: Please donāt let your dogs run up to strangersā dogs. Also, do not let strange dogs run up to your dog.
Iāve seen a handful of interactions like this, over the past few weeks, and trust me when I say that no good can come from thisā¦ Not in the short term and not in the long term.
This is not meant as a scolding or judgement, just a suggestion to those who want to keep their dogs safe and sane.
Please share to spread the word š

PART TWO RE: EXCITED, OVERSTIMULATED DOGS A while back I had posted a reel explaining why overstimulation and overexcitement of dogs causes many common behavioural issues. Here is a āpart twoā of how to reinforce calmness to curb that overstimulation. If you have questions, shoot me a DM and Iāll address them anonymously in my stories or a future post :) Happy training to you all!-Leanne
Bearās owners, with the best intentions of loving him and keeping him safe, have been keeping him either inside the house or tied out on his chain.
Unfortunately that way of life does not provide enough physical or psychological stimulation for him, so he began utilizing his time out on his chain, as an outlet to expel his energy and frustration. He would bark and lunge at cars and quads that drove by, as well as people passing by or visiting the home. His family was worried that he was becoming aggressive, as he had nipped a couple people, while expelling this energy and frustration.
Bear is not an aggressive dog; not with people or with other dogs. Bear is frustrated and unfulfilled and releasing his energy in the only outlet available to him.
Yesterday his owners, who are two of the loveliest people, learned why he was exhibiting these behaviours and how to fulfill his physical and psychological needs. We taught Bear how to walk politely on-leash, so everyone can safely and happily enjoy a walk together.
Dogs need to be walked. Being tied up or confined to a backyard is not enough. We all just experienced COVID, being confined to our homes and yardsā¦ how did we fare? Now imagine your dog, a more primal and migratory animal, living their lives confined to a house and yardā¦ problems are bound to arise when we fail to fulfill our dogsā physical and psychological needs.
Go walk your dog š And if youāre not able to safely or enjoyably do so, reach out so we can get you on track!
Much love,
Leanne
Nine out of ten people will regret doing thisā¦ Assume you are one of the nine.
XOXO
Leanne
Group classes are NOT a starting point for training or correcting issues youāre having with your dog. Group classes are for proofing, not learning.
I only want clients to utilize services that are actually going to help them. If you are unsure of which training options are right for you, please reach out and I will be happy to point you in the right direction.
