🎉 Adoption Update: Noel 🐾
Noel was surrendered as a kitten and grew up at the shelter while waiting for his forever home. As time went on, he started to lose hope, becoming more withdrawn and depressed. It broke our hearts to see such a sweet soul feeling so defeated.
But then, the day before his first birthday, his rescuers arrived: Paulo and his family. 💕 When they read Noel’s story, something clicked. As Paulo shared, “It really tugged at my heartstrings. A cat deserves to be in a forever home, and every time we looked, we always circled back to Noel. There was something from the get-go.”
Now, Noel is thriving in his new home with his feline brother, Pepper. 🐈🐈⬛ Paulo shared, “They run around, play, jump on top of the fridge, hide in our cabinets, and just be brothers. They even sleep next to each other. We’ve even noticed a difference in Noel’s face—it’s more relaxed. It makes my family and me so happy to see him this happy.”
Stories like Noel’s remind us why we do what we do. Thank you, Paulo and family, for giving Noel the life he always deserved! ❤️

Did you know playtime is essential for your cat’s mental and physical well-being?
Here’s one of our alumni, Samson, enjoying a DIY treat puzzle—proof that even simple activities can spark joy and engagement!
Here are some tips to make playtime purr-fect:
🎯 Use Food for Fun
Scatter kibble to encourage chasing.
Hide treats to inspire hunting.
Try food puzzles to let your cat “work” for their food.
🎾 Variety is Key
Offer an assortment of toys: think crinkly paper, soft toys, balls, or feathered wands.
Rotate toys regularly to keep your cat interested.
🏃 Short and Frequent Play Sessions
Cats love short bursts of activity—play multiple times a day to mimic their natural hunting instincts.
💕 One-on-One Time
Cats typically prefer individual play, so if you have more than one cat, give each one individualized attention.
⚠️ Pro Tips
Avoid using hands or feet as toys to prevent unwanted biting or scratching.
Kittens need more vigorous play than older cats, but even senior cats benefit from gentle activity.
Playing isn’t just fun—it helps your cat stay active, reduce stress, and strengthen your connection. Make it part of your daily routine!

Does your pet give you puppy eyes from the cozy couch when it’s time to face the cold weather during the winter months? Keeping your pet fit and healthy during those cold days can be a challenge when long evening walks are accompanied by frozen toes and a runny nose❄️⛄️
Try out a cat wheel🐈, a game of fetch in the basement or down a hallway🎾, or teaching your pet a new trick🐩! Ensuring that your pets maintain a healthy weight can help reduce the risk of osteoarthritis, heart disease, and high blood pressure🩺🩸

Please join us in wishing Noel a very happy first birthday! 🎂🥳
Today is extra special because he’s waking up to celebrate his first birthday in the warmth and comfort of his new home. Yesterday, just in time for his big day, he found his forever family 🎉❤️
Happy birthday, buddy! We love you and wish you the most wonderful new life 🐾
Last week, we shared Tiny’s amazing adoption story. Her new mom, Margaret, chose to rename her Poppy, inspired by the poppy she wore on her jacket when she came to meet her, a nod to Remembrance Day season.
Margaret recently left us the sweetest voicemail with an update on how Poppy is doing—and we just had to share it. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do. Hearing from our adopters and knowing that cats like Poppy are thriving in their new homes means the world to us.
Take a listen and enjoy this heartwarming update ❤️

🐾 Sound on! The kittens are waiting for you to come cuddle them! 🐾
We’ve been settling into a new routine this week and have a good handle on our new needs. Our furry friends would love your help (and your cuddles)! We’re looking for volunteers to assist during these times:
🕙 10am-12pm - litter boxes, food, water and bedding change-outs to start the day off right. Plus as reward for the poop scooping, endless cat cuddles while you’re here.
🕛 12pm-4pm – afternoon cat cuddling, cat enrichment/playing with toys, training, tricks (including our awesome new exercise wheel). Easy peasey and relaxed!
🕛 12pm-4pm – assisting with laundry, cleaning food dishes and litter pans, general cleaning, plus endless cat cuddles while you’re here
Or if you have any special skills, let us know - we’d love to see how you could contribute!
We’re also considering some different open hours, like adding weekday evenings! We’d love your feedback, comment below to share when you’d love to visit or volunteer. 💬

Drumheller, you FILLED the Ford! 🛻❤️
Our community is SO GOOD TO US! A huge thank you to every single person who stopped by to donate, and to those who sent e-transfers too. The truck was overflowing—we couldn’t have fit any more in if we tried! We received a pallet and a half of litter and countless bags of cat food. Our shelves are officially stocked! We couldn’t do this work without your support, THANK YOU!
A special thank you to Pet Valu for your endless support, Westergard Ford for the truck to fill, and Co-op for delivering the litter and sending Brandon to be our muscle, Vicki Hardy for the hot chocolate donation, and of course, thank you to our amazing volunteers and staff for running this event. We are so grateful 🙏
