As a gardener, I find I learn all the time. Sometimes good, sometimes not so much, but always learn. I am also the type of gardener who has “let’s find out what happens” philosophy. And I am also a very forgetful type of gardener, I have a good excuse for it and it is not even my age 🤣 So when you put everything together, you get random sweet potato sprouting in your greenhouse. I honestly have no clue when I put it there, but I assume it was at some point in a spring. It also could’ve been the same potato I tied to start inside for over a month and nothing happened so I threw it in a a ground to decompose. But now I have sweet potato shoots coming up. I decided to separate one at first and realize because it is so deep in a ground it already has roots - great! It went to a different place in a greenhouse. Today I took 3 more shoots and repotted them in a very large pot, will see what happens I guess. If starts to cool off in a fall they can still go inside the greenhouse, so maybe we will end up with some sweet potatoes 🤷‍♀️ I guess I have to start sweet potatoes about 6 months in advance 🤔🙄
I find it really funny that most of my weird successes all happened by accident 😂

never say no to helping mom in garden, and occasionally they will help themselves to some veggies of their choosing 🤪🥰

A few garden thins. As now I am solely a weeder of the garden and no longer a pollinator of zucchinis (bees told be to mind my own beeswax 🤣🤣🤣). I have volunteer tomatoes among my zucchinis that started to produce these lovely fruit. Gorgeous nasturtiums and marigolds. Found out that I actually somehow managed to plant butternut squash 🤷‍♀️ I was fully convinced it was buttercup squash but here it is. My zucchinis are now on second round of big zucchini explosion, one plant will have 4-5 I think at the same time 🤪 but I have a plan!!! My Zeppelin (zucchini that I left for seed) is getting huge! When do I pick it?
I have one more squash that most likely is spaghetti type but really who knows with me running this show 🤦‍♀️🤣
And lastly, looks like buckwheat will actually produce. Not sure how much fun it will be picking it, but I will try. Maybe just save it to use it next year, really like the result of having it in my garden.

Yes we have weeds, but we also have very happy plants, plenty of pollinators, our soil isn’t eroded by rain and we don’t have any standing water. We love our garden even with weeds.

View from living room windows and morning look at the garden. So nice to see so many pollinators enjoying our garden! Things in bloom right now are squash, zucchini, borage (their favourite), nasturtiums, peas, tomatoes, buckweat, sunflowers, cucumbers, marigolds, calendula and beans. Attracting and feeding our pollinators was our goal when we planted all the flowers and buckwheat in our veggie garden. I think it is working!

This is an interesting part of our veggie garden. First of all, this is a huge zucchini, to the left we have a squash growing. In between, you may see a bit of colour, we have nasturtiums (yellow ones here), to the right there is Borage, marigold and calendula coming up. There is also a tomato plant somewhere in a mix - compost volunteer. Everything is massive and coexisting really well! Oh yes, there are also sunflowers on the border. It is more spectacular in person 😉

The garden is so very happy after the rain. Trimmed up all the tomato plants (suckers, low leafs) and checked up on the flowering. It is pretty incredible to see all the fruit setting! Can’t wait 😁😁😁
Our zucchini plants are huge! We had a few flowers already on each plant, I am pretty sure that they didn’t get pollinated but zucchini is actually big enough to eat, so will see in a day or two if they miraculously got pollinated (we had no male flowers) and if not we will harvest and enjoy baby zucchini.
And then there is the rest of the garden including 5’10” peas! 😂
Oh, and squash bugs are here! 🤢

Our first little tomato formed in a greenhouse. This variety suppose to be early variety(Siberian), but I have planted them all in a same time, so will be only early by a a week or so, but hey, I will take it.
And here is sad part about the garden with morning, we have half a dozen zucchini blooming but not a single male flower in sight 😢 It is one of those “looks good on paper moment” but I am ready to cry. Zucchinis they are on would be absolutely gorgeous, but without male flowers they will just rot and fall off. Now I need to know, should I make some milkshakes? Will that help??? 😂😂🤣🤣

Love our garden this year!
Strawberries are producing and hopefully will start ripening soon. Herb harvest to add to chicken water, and second harvest went I into dying ruck for the dogs. A few radishes, I want to reseed but I have a feeling we are getting into our hot time of year so won’t be anything but leafs. And gorgeous chamomile that reseeded itself and now producing like crazy. Will have to add more to our herbal garden so it just comes back every year on its own.

Haskap is ripening, for some reason only one bush so far while the other two are still growing.
And a few things from the garden - peas (from greenhouse for now) and pok Choy to add to my supper.

Such a happy garden after the rain. I must say, things are growing pretty crazy so far this year! (Knock on wood) It is only early June and my zucchini looks amazing. I pinched flowers in it to let it grow just a bit bigger before letting it fruit. Tomatoes are getting bigger by the day, a lot of them are setting flowers. Yesterday was “pinch off bottom leafs and suckers” day lol gave me a chance to take a good look at each of them and pinch off flowers from a few smaller ones. Sunflowers are getting good size already, I did start them inside since I find we get things eat them before they reach two inches. I did have to buy cabbage seedlings since I can’t grow it from seed for the life of me! They did double if not triple in size since we got them. Broccoli is growing well, so is kale, Swiss chard, spinach and Bok Choi.
No idea what’s going with our potatoes lol they are massive this year! I don’t remember a year when they were that big this yearly! Usually only our container poatoes are these big. Herbal garden getting bigger by the minute, and I harvest herbs regularly to add to chicken water. And lastly, you can’t have a garden without a thousand tomato volunteers lol they came from our compost pile that now is littered with tomatoes.
