Tags always tell such a story, to me. They are usually something that is with an animal for a long time and they usually show signs of all sorts of things - how the back wears off after many many happy walks where it jingles against the city licence, etc.
For me, one of the sounds of my pets that I forever remember is the sound of their tags twinkling as they run toward me. I remember the sound of every one of them and each pet sounded different.
I made this cute little rainbow paw with Maxine’s tag for myself. Maxine was one of my fosters through ARTS senior animal rescue. We tried to save her for 8 days on my kitchen floor after her family let her down. She didn’t win her battle but she fought hard. Maxine’s tag looked like she had some fun times ❤️
I love sending someone home to their family ❤️ safe journey to Brampton!
Safe journey home to Florida, Jazzy ❤️❤️❤️
I can’t wait to share her memorial - but not until momma has seen it first ❤️🌊☀️
I don’t know what it is about receiving a well worn collar to be encapsulated in a memorial, but it gets me every time. Is it the little imperfections of adventure? The shed hairs stuck in the fabric that I know were once lovingly stroked? The faded tags that were put on by a loving family? They always make me smile - a loved item from happier times.
Here is an in progress collar encapsulation. Before pouring resin I always spend some extra time positioning the tag and then looking and re-looking at it to make sure it’s sitting naturally and is legible, and then I cure it in place before placing the collar and pouring.
This piece in particular has such a cool idea for its design and I can’t wait to show it when it’s complete! When this pup’s mom reached out she wasn’t sure what she wanted it to look like, so we talked a bit about the pups life and came up with something that represented her favourite activity. ❤️
