What are the 5 most important things we do with our Gypsy Cob horses? #1 - We always use @gallopinggoopcanada and @equiderma for all our show grooming and care bath needs. If you want clean, healthy and comfortable.. they have amazing products and we highly recommend. ✅ #2- We handle our foals right from the day they’re born, and build lasting bonds that will transfer to their new owners when they arrive. We also gently blow in their nose just after their born, so they never forget who we are. ✅ #3 - We go around and feed special feeds and hay daily at 8am, 4pm and 10pm. Horses are graze animals and should always be able to graze pastures or hay. We also use this as a way of having our eyes on our herd several times a day and not miss any injuries or incidents that need our attention. ✅ #4- We strive very hard to ensure we never miss a foal being born. Foal watch begins in early spring all the way through summer. We put them into foal and we feel it’s our responsibility to be there in case anything should go wrong. We use pool PH strips to test milk and foal watch kits to narrow down the time frames. ✅ #5- Our horses 💯 at all times come first. Their heath and care will always come before our own. 5 things we would never do with our horses … Raising and breeding Gypsy Cob horses for the past 8yrs has taught us a lot of lessons. About horses and people. 🫣😂 We’ve learned a lot of what to do, and what not do to… Here’s 5 things we would never do with our horses: #1 - We don’t use grain to catch horses. We build bonds, create trusting relationships between our horses and ourselves and build on those relationships consistently. Horses want to be with those they respect and trust. #2- We don’t treat them all the same. Horses are individuals and what works for one, may not work for another. Each horse on the ranch has its own program and plan designed specifically for them and their needs. #3- We don’t place horses with just anyone. We want the right fit for the horse and the human. By doing that we hope to create a bond that’ll last a lifetime. #4- We don’t stall our horses 24/7 or give them a life that we ourselves wouldn’t want to live. We believe in karma. 😊 #5 - We don’t use hair elastics as they break the hair. We use electrical tape if we’re braiding manes, but not black cause that melts into the hair on hot days. We use the coloured kind you get from Dollarama. PS- some horses will rub out braids if you put them in. You gotta go with each horse as an individual. 👍 Would you like more posts like these? Ranch Riding for Gypsy Cobs? 🤷🏻‍♀️Absolutely‼️👏SD Empire took in his first Ranch Riding show with @mikaelabairdrlr_ this weekend. ❤️Here’s the highlights …Empire did not hold a grudge when a few of the other horses spooked at him and weren’t quite sure what he was. 😂He could honestly care less about what anyone else is doing. From mares in season, to geldings riding up his butt… he didn’t even flinch and was a complete gentleman the entire time. 👍He may not look like your typical ranch horse, but he can sure keep up with em and do everything they can. ❤️This little warm up show was the perfect place for Mikey and Empire to step into the ring and dip their toes in the water so to speak…. RLR Melissa Madison is absolutely the most incredible yearling and I’m so proud of how she did at her TGCA evaluation exam. ❤️Thank you to @classic_stables_llc for the tips about the flash, and for having extra hands on horses when I wasn’t evaluating. 😊You’ve shown a lot of horses in the UK and know just how the TGCA judges want the horses flashed by them.
