Arthur Animal Rescue is at a record high of kitties for adoption, in our care, and expensive vet care costs. We have 71 cats for adoption, 160 in our care, and big surgeries to cover like Edna’s amputation, multiple dentals and other more extensive vet expenses. To help offset our costs, we are holding an online auction!

You can bid on nearly 40 gifts to be won all in support of our cats! Place your bids by commenting on the corresponding items below and following the items rules in each caption.

Bidding will be open from November 22nd to November 29th at 9pm.

Winners can e-transfer us before pickup. Pickup will be in Downtown Guelph between November 30th and December 6th.

Arthur Animal Rescue is looking to expand our Team! We are seeking an individual to take on the role of Donations Coordinator.

This role will include responding to donation offer emails for both small and large item donations. These items could include towels, cat trees, carriers, or larger/bulk donations like litter and food.

This coordinator will be responsible for responding to all emails regarding item donations, arranging where the donations are going, and organizing transportation/storage for large items.

Ideally, this person will have access to an area to store these items, but alternatively they will be in charge of sourcing where we will store the items.

This role will also help with our Fundraising Coordinator source donated items from local businesses for our Online Auctions.

A successful candidate will;
-Have a passion for animals and rescue work
- Have good interpersonal skills
- Have good, friendly communication skills, proactive management, and time management
- Have access to a computer or mobile device
-Be able to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to volunteering

This person will work (volunteer), with a group of more than a dozen animal lovers working towards helping stray and neglected cats across Wellington County.

This past weekend we had two BUSY days filled with fun and gratitude. Saturday we had our Adopt-a-thon hosted at the Puslinch , and Sunday there was the Christmas Sip n Shop at the Fergus Sportsplex in support of us!

Saturday, we had 30 adoptable kitties available for the public to meet and apply to adopt. We have quite a few hopeful adoptions from this event and we are thrilled. Thank you to our volunteers, coordinators, fosters, RENs Pets, and our kitties for behaving!

Sunday, we had our biggest and business Sip n Shop yet! There were 5 big raffle prizes to be won, beverages from and treats from all donations, and over 55 talented vendors. Thank you to our volunteers, coordinators, and Nicole from for organizing another amazing market in our honour.

Our hearts are full 🥰

Last week Arthur Animal Rescue and other local rescue organizations sprang into action when we got a call to help 100 cats and dozens of dogs being kept by a backyard breeder who passed away.

Arthur Animal Rescue was able to take 17 cats, with 16 being females used for breeding and one male outdoor “porch cat”. The females, now referred to as the Queens (and royal names for them pending) are doing well in our quarantine location where they are receiving care and decompressing from the trauma they have gone through.

We need to recognize our volunteers for the amazing work they’ve done for these cats. Our Vet Coordinator, Heather Henley and our amazing fosters and “crisis team” Janet Volmar and her husband Paul went into the house of horrors and rescued our 17 babies. The things they saw that day will stay with them forever, but to know we were able to help some souls makes it all worth it.

Janet and Paul have opened their home to us to house and quarantine all these babies until they are well enough to go into loving foster homes. They provide around the clock care and love along with a great group of volunteers to help.

We have a huge group of volunteers ready and willing to help so we’ve created an hourly schedule that our fosters signup to care for them. Without our volunteers we wouldn’t have been able to take our Queens and for them we will forever be grateful.

Huge thank you to Elizabeth McLean for coming to care for our Queens and give them the love they deserve. It’s unknown if these cats have ever received affection and some were so accepting of it and would purr in her arms as she spoke sweetly to them.

Thank you to Agnes Kovacs and her sweet daughter who also came to care for them and for little E to go to each kitty and let them know they are safe and life is going to get so much better. This is most likely the first time our Queens have seen a child and for E to make such a good impression on them is paramount. E wished them all well and told them soon they will be in homes playing with friends. Just goes to show kids really do pick up on everything and their kindness and empathy always prevails.

Thank you to our wonderful foster and OVC Student, Emily He and her classmate who came out to our quarantine area to do an in-depth physical exam on each kitty and take thorough notes. Each cat was handled with such care and patience, they let each kitty move at their own pace and ensured they felt safe.

And thank you to our vet team for taking such good care of all our babies - it truly does take a village to save a cat!

Happy Tail! It’s official, this boy stays with us ❤️ Welcome Atreus Epizón Brok Sindri Kratos Sharkbite. He’s been my baby, my shadow, and my snuggle muffin since he first came in. After losing his two brothers to panleukopenia, numerous vet visits with him and Sigrun, supplements, meds, disinfecting, worrying, losing sleep, and just praying for their recovery I am so thrilled he will be staying here with us. He made it clear to me all along that he belonged here. He joins our first foster fail Astrid Goldeneye Petunia Freyja Odinthor to make a beautiful set of two lucky kitties to join our crazy home. I daresay she even likes him! We love you little boy, we are beyond delighted to have you here. - Nicole, AAR President and intake coordinator, Atreus’ former foster mom!

Yesterday we rescued 17 cats from a backyard breeder’s property that contained more than 100 Bengal/Siamese mixed cats, and dozens if dogs. The cats and dogs were kept in deplorable conditions their entire lives, solely used to breed over and over again. The property owner has passed away, and now they are going to have the lives they deserved the whole time.

We are so grateful to all the rescue organizations that jumped to this call of action and stepped up to save these babies. All of these animals were kept in dirty cages, layered in filthy newspaper and shavings that stuck to their paws with urine and f***s. Some were in cages in the basement, and others were kept in cages in a shed. All of these cats never saw true daylight, with no windows, or fresh air. The smell upon entering the property was putrid and choked you with ammonia with each breath.

Our Vet Coordinator and Vice President, Heather, and our amazing fosters and crisis team, Janet and Paul, jumped into action with a deadline of getting the cats out by this weekend. They quickly arranged enough carriers to hold them, and transport them all back to their farm for quarantining and proper care.

We were able to save 16 Queens used for breeding, and one outdoor “porch cat”, who we’ve already named Pete the Porch Cat. These cats are Bengals, Siamese, and other mixes of “designer breeds” all known for their unique looks. Our sweet girls will never be bred again; it’s time for a retirement party.

Our new babies, now known as The Queens, are going to need some good names to match their beautiful personalities, we are sure will come out once they learn to trust us. We’ve decided they will all be named after the true queens they are. For example, Mary Queen of Scots, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Latifa, Cleopatra, Queen Anne, Lady Di, Hera, etc. We will need at least 16 to choose from, so if you have any ideas please comment below and we will add them to our list!

We also will be needing help with care while in quarantine, supplies, donations, and eventually fosters and adopters. Please note, we will not be accepting any adoption applications for them until the kitties are ready and listed for adoption. Edna has graduated from the AAR Feline Hospital, and is now back with her foster mama and AAR President, Nicole !

She has healed incredibly well, and we are so grateful for for taking her on for her amputation. She has overcome so much in such a short time - a long and hard labour for 6 healthy kittens, contracting panleuk, contracting an infection, beating panleuk, losing her front leg, and now healing from the intense amputation surgery. Edna proves herself everyday to be a fighter and we are so grateful to those who have supported her care.

Edna’s vet care has cost nearly $5000, and we are still looking to raise another $4000 to cover it. Huge thank you to those who donated, or shared Edna’s story. We have recently been called to take on 17 cats from a backyard breeders property, so funds are tight but we are hanging onto hope that our community will get us through this as always ❤️ You can donate directly to her care by e-transfering to [email protected]. Edna should be ready for her purrfect home in just a few more weeks! If you’ve been thinking about adding a sweet and sassy girl to your family please consider Edna. While she may look crotchety, she loves to be pet and get treats. She lives with other cats, and even with one paw she will swat them away when she is over them. Edna has gone through everything imaginable, and it’s time for her to live the rest of her long and happy life being spoiled.

At the end of June, Arthur Animal Rescue started a fundraising campaign to provide Trap - Neuter - Release (TNR) services to a colony of cats located in the Ward neighbourhood in Guelph. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and the support from New Hope Animal Rescue Guelph, we raised over $2,900 to kickstart our TNR project in the Ward. Our volunteers quickly got to work, being guided along the way by the more experienced TNR expert at Cats Anonymous Rescue and Adoption.

Over the past four months, our team has spent countless hours monitoring traps and nurturing the cats, making numerous trips to the vet, and putting the funds to good use. We've successfully trapped, spayed/neutered, and provided medical care to 16 cats from this colony! And the excitement doesn’t stop there — as of now several adorable kittens from The Ward Colony, who have been being socialized and soaking up the love in foster care, are now ready to find their forever homes! A huge shoutout to our amazing volunteers, led by our TNR Expert, Taylor Lehman, whose passion has been the driving force behind our mission.

While we’re still attempting to trap a couple of elusive female cats, the changing seasons are making our task a bit trickier. But going forward, we will be monitoring this colony and will continue to lend our support wherever we can. Thank you to everyone who has rallied around this cause; your kindness has truly made a difference!
