Purple Paws is an organization that was founded on the premise that every dog deserves to be loved, cared for and to be provided with a safe and forever home. In the beginning Fort Erie desperately needed a safe place for dogs to be while they awaited their forever home. Since opening Purple Paws in November of 2021 we have experienced overwhelming community support and we have been able to cultivate partnerships that will last for many years to come.
Our resources have allowed us to provide support to those experiencing hardship and as a result, giving dog guardians the ability to keep their dogs out of shelters.
A few of our challenges and successes have included a senior dog that needed medical care. She lived the rest of her life in a loving home and was given the best year of her life pampered with love, car rides, and all the food and warmth until her eventual passing a year later. Other successes include 5 dogs that were rescued and cared for on behalf of another rescue organization. We saved dogs from a local shelter in need of medical care and after being treated medically, found them their forever homes and gave them their second chance of having the life they so deserved.
It is with sadness that Purple Paws has decided to announce that we are dissolving the rescue for the time being. We will still be here for animals and will continue to serve them in whatever ways possible. Our hearts will still continue to call on us for fundraising efforts and community education to better inform responsible pet ownership. Our rescue collaborations will result in other entities being able to continue their much needed work, we applaud their tireless involvement in animal rescue work.
Due to the generosity of our supporters we have been able to donate to the following organizations and in so doing have given them a little boost of financial help to help with all those animals they serve. Tails of the North was provided with $4000,00 to help them in their amazing efforts, if you have not heard of them, look them up and help out if you can. The remaining amount of $1012.90 was donated to Happy’s Place. They were so kind and supportive to us as a rescue and we know they do such great work. If you’re looking to adopt or support a rescue for seniors, show them some love. A large supply of collars, dog bowls, leashes, and other items were happily donated to Happy’s Place and Tails of the North.
We would like to thank all those who have been involved with Purple Paws and who have made a huge difference to the dogs and other animals over the past two years. We could not have done this without each and every one of you. We greatly appreciate volunteers, community members, and any other supporters who stepped forward in contributing to the success of Purple Paws. Purple Paw's Board of Directors couldn’t have achieved all the success we have enjoyed without the hard work and big hearts that joined us with enthusiasm and dedication.
Please continue to rescue and support rescues. The struggle is real right now in dog rescue, they are all literally busting at the seams with intakes and surrenders. We can all do our part to help. Have your pets spay and neutered and please adopt, don’t shop. They need you.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors
