Today’s Adventure: Visiting Canadian Tire!
Pet friendly stores can be a great way to build onto your dogs training and their exposure to the outside world! But please remember that taking your dog to a store with you is a privilege and not a right. Not everyone in that store wants to be greeted by a crazy rambunctious dog nor does anyone want to walk into an aisle littered with pee and poop!
To ensure that these privileges are not taken away from the dog community please be sure to:
✅ Spend a few extra minutes outside the store and ensure your dog goes potty before entering the building.
✅ Keep your dog on leash and close to your persons at all times.
✅ Avoid and/or give space to other shoppers in the store. Do not assume everyone likes or wants your dog to approach them.
✅ Ensure your dog is calm, quiet and well behaved, this can all be done through ✨Training your dog!✨ If you can not keep your dog under control at all times you do not have the right to bring your dog to these types of public places.
✅ Accidents happen! If your dog does have an accident, CLEAN IT UP! Most pet friendly stores have clean up stations for this very purpose. If you can’t find one, at the very least let a store employee know so that they can make sure it’s dealt with properly.
I personally love taking my dogs out on occasion to shop around and change up our routine to practice our training in new settings, but if we can’t all work together and practice these common sense courtesies, then we will definitely see less and less stores allowing our furry friends to join us on our outtings!
(A little late on the post) but Happy 4th Birthday to my youngest pup! Where does the time go!?
First night of all new rounds of scent classes! Every dog deserves to have a job. Nose work is a great way to engage your dogs brain, enrich their lives and challenge yours and your dogs skills!
