Our summer food forest gardener Holly Carter coordinated an incredible 3-course charity dinner in the St. Mary's Community Food Forest on Wednesday evening, with all 40 tickets selling out and all of the proceeds, nearly $2,000, to be donated to the Fredericton Community Kitchens. Leanne from LJW Catering Group donated her expertise, staff, and equipment to the event, the band The Time Travelers and Friends entertained attendees all evening, and chokecherry seltzer and Staghorn Sumac lemonade were provided by Hayes Farm. Thank you to everyone who made this evening possible.

Hey everyone! Here's an event that we are putting on at the St. Mary's Community Food Forest with the help of Hayes Farm, and LJW Catering Group, in honor of increasing food security here in Fredericton. All proceeds will go to the Fredericton Community Kitchens

It will start with a tour of the St. Marys community food forest led by Andrew Mathis discussing regenerative agriculture and self sufficient, urban food production.
Then, a 3 course buffet style meal, menu design by me. Food cooked by Leanne from LJW Catering, Allison Keane , our beautiful volunteers. While listening to music played by Daisy Coburn's band, The Time Travelers and friends. This is going to be an amazing collaborate event of our community. So I really encourage anyone who is passionate about local food access, and anyone who supports me or any of these other lovely individuals, to support in any way you can. Whether that means buying a ticket or even sharing the event with people you know, it would be greatly appreciated! And it will amplify the impact we can have through this event!

Thank you all for your support ❤

Tickets range from $40-$80 but the general ticket is $50

In 1975, during a trip to Sussex NB from where they were living in Toronto, Lee and Alice Whitney made an unplanned decision to buy a homestead. Two years later they left the big city and moved their family to the country, living off the land on a property that they would come to know by heart over the next 37 years. Lee's reflections on living in the Kennebecasis Valley are a joy to read, and the Russet apples in the food forest were planted with him in mind.
