It was an extremely hard decision to make.
With our moving in a new province, we took the decision that Doodle-Me-Up will stop all breeding activities.

Ok.. so please don’t judge me because their is a ton of dishes on the counter and a mountain of fur in the floor! I groomed Shadow in the morning and I was baking a very massive batch of banana bread just after! I am a clean person normally 😅

So main subject of this post is « how » to properly remove something from your puppy. If you simply yell « no » and remove it, your puppy with think « she barks to have it, it must be very precious! » and you will create a puppy that steal/eat/destroy what you are screaming not to. Later on, you can teach the word « no » or leave it.

1- don’t say anything if you see your puppy is eating something he is not allowed to.
2- take a good treat
3- throw the treat away so while your puppy is busy you can grab the item withou him thinking you are stealing his tresor!

When he gets older, you can « trade » a treat for the item. Your puppy will learn what is acceptable to eat and what is not and he won’t think that you are stealing his belongings.

Bath desensitization. Here is how to help your puppy get used of it.
-put something they love in the bath,
-if they don’t feel stressed move forward I. The steps, don’t do all the steps the same day!
-start the water in the tap
-put the lid and fill the bath with just a tiny bit of water.
-put a bit more water,
-start the shower without wetting them.
-wet them and treat!
-now they are ready for a bath!

Make the bath a fun place to be! You can also play with their favorite toy in the bath. Do bath desensitization every day for 1-2 weeks. They’ll start to love that fun place!

Perfect for the summer! But don’t put any sugar. The banana are way enough sweet and sugar is very bad for dogs. It can lead to diabetes, even if you don’t give much.

Please, never allowed children to do that. Even the sweetest dog can get mad if you allow your children to do that.
Always teach your children good ways to play with them. This will result in an happy relationship between your dog and your family ❤️

Today the puppies are 8 weeks old! Goober and Taffy will leave for their exciting new life!!! (All the other puppies left yesterday)
I am happy to see Kira playing and happy this morning.

Today was an exciting day for the puppies and their new furever families! 7 of them leave for their new exciting life!!! 2 will leave tomorrow and we get to cuddle Gummy for a little longer while his family is getting ready to welcome him.

Today I took the puppy 1 by 1 for a little walk in the neighborhood. I also finished all the puppies bags and I gave them their blankets so the smell of their siblings and mom will go on them.

Zoomie!
If you notice your puppy starts running everywhere with no control, we call that « zoomie ». This is a totally normal behavior that will stop when adult. A puppy that has the zoomie is an happy puppy! Don’t try to stop it. Move the children away, laugh and let it burn his energy!

Let’s talk Harness!

Harness Harness Harness! How to choose the right one?! It is extremely important to choose well if you don’t want to cause injury. If your dog actually pull, never buy those « no pull » harnesses that pass directly on the dog’s shoulder. It will cause permanent damage. Your dog won’t pull with them… because it causes pain, not because they are good harness.

Today I started working on our beautiful puppies’s puppy bags! The Go home day is coming fast!

Today, the puppies are 7 weeks old… already!!!

I showed them a puppy show on the tv, they were impressed!
We also had the visit of Gummy’s new parents!
And to finish, Sugar found a paper towel and she was so proud of her treasure! 🤣

Today was the puppies’s vet check, vaccines and microchips! Everyone is healthy! The vet also said that my puppies are always having an amazing temperament 🥰

Today we continued with our industrial air blower desensitization. We can see very well the progress of our puppies! Some of them are now feeling very confident with it. And the one that still need a bit of their mom reassurance will get their soon! They are not scared, just a bit Insecure.

Day 45!
Yesterday we did our famous ball pit activity! I don’t have to tell you that it was a huge success. The puppies had so much fun! This activity is to build their confidence having to walk in a different surface (the plastic of the pool) surrounded by a lot of noise and mouvement.

I want to announce that the April 2024’s litter have all been spoken for!
All the puppies will also be match with their furever family today, and they are going to be ready to leave in approximately 2 weeks 🤗

That is something very useful with puppies. If you hurry to remove what’s in your puppy’s mouth, they will think « she/he wants it for herself » et they will be more and more in a hurry to still it or eat it because they will believe it is something very valuable.
That’s how a lot of people end up having trouble with their dog eating their socks 😉

This afternoon was warm enough for the puppies so we spend some time outside. Observing life in the street is very important in their socialization! They got to see car, a lot of bicycles, kids playing, pedestrians with their dogs, my neighbors washing her car (they were captivated by that 🤣) and even two policemen stop by to say Hi! (People in uniform is also an important aspect in the socialization so it was awesome)
