Hello everypawdy 🐾
Along side caring for your little furkids, I have launched my own candle company. I am a total candleholic , especially with pets in the home. I needed to find something that we can all breath in easy. Free from all the nasties and hormone disruptors.
Please be my guest, and read how my husband and I started this journey. And feel free to follow if you love delightful one-of-a-kind scents🥰
Teaser Alert: I am working on the perfect recipe for a scent. I'm so excited to launch this spring
Called Puppuccino, with portions from that candle being donated to Pet Save. As well ,a portion of all candle sales are donated to the CAMH Foundation ✨️
# # # The Story Behind “Butcher and the Bride”
What kind of name is “Butcher and the Bride” for a candle company, you ask? Well, sit back and let me take you on a heartfelt journey that intertwines love, laughter, and a passion for creating something beautiful.
It all began when I first met my husband, affectionately known as *The Butcher*. We were just 14 years old, and fate had a funny way of introducing us. He found himself in detention, and in a moment of kindness (or perhaps mischief), I helped him write “I will not act up in school” a hundred times on paper just so he could get out early. Little did we know that this small act would spark a lifelong connection. We became high school sweethearts but, like many young love stories, we went our separate ways for a while.
Fast forward to 1994—our eyes met again at Ralph's Sports Bar. He had taken a retail meat-cutting course in North Bay during our time apart, while I had just embraced vegetarianism. The irony was not lost on us, and we shared a hearty laugh over our contrasting paths. We married in 2001, and thus, the name “Butcher and the Bride” was born. It was a playful nod to our unique love story, especially since I was the proud owner and CEO of my own bridal shop, *Priceless Bridals*. In fact, I think that was my first email address too—“Butcher and the Bride”! It always stuck with me, and I pondered how I could use it for something special, even considering it for my bridal shop. But let’s be honest; pairing “butcher” with wedding gowns didn’t quite fit, no matter how cheeky my humor might be!
Fast forward to 2012, when I came across an incredible candle company from Ohio. I decided to bring their candles into my bridal shop, and they ignited like wildfire (yes, pun intended!). My husband, Darren, even had his favorite scents—anything pine or forest always brought him joy. Through every endeavor, Darren has been my steadfast supporter, the backbone of all my dreams. Without his unwavering encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He has always wanted to see me happy, and for that, I am forever grateful.
After 14 years of selling candles and gaining valuable knowledge about the craft, I felt it was time to embark on a new venture. I must mention that while Darren has a hard time “hunting” these days—thanks to my pet care business and our ever-growing list of furkids—he has developed a fondness for animals. I’m thrilled about that! And speaking of animals, our candles take it a step further by being pet-friendly, crafted from plant-based waxes and fragrances that are free from harmful toxins. You can feel good about lighting them in your home, knowing they are safe for your furry companions.
So there you have it—the story behind “Butcher and the Bride.” A name that encapsulates love, humor, and a commitment to creating beautiful, safe candles for you and your loved ones. Thank you from the bottom of my melted wax pot for your support!
With love and gratitude,
Stacey & Darren"Gump" Newell
