Register Now for the Cow-Calf Management Tour!

Registration deadline for hotel accommodations is Friday, August 23rd.

Beef Farmers of Ontario invite you to join us for farm tours in Brant County and surrounding area. This event will provide an opportunity to learn from other cow-calf producers, along with a tour of a feedlot and local abattoir. We look forward to discussing pasture management, strategies to prepare calves for the feedlot, and herd expansion.

The Cow-Calf Management Tour is an OSCIA-recognized On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for applicants with approved Rotational Grazing or Cover Crop projects. Questions about OFCAF should be directed to [email protected].

Friday, September 6th

12:30 p.m. Registration at Best Western, Branford
1:00 p.m. Carpool to first farm
1:20 p.m. Farm Stop #1 - Commercial cow-calf, feedlot and cash crop operation
3:15 p.m. Farm Stop #2 - feedlot operation with discussion on traceability
5:15 p.m. Return to hotel for check-in
6: 30 p.m. Dinner and evening reception

Saturday, September 7th

7:00 - 8:00 a.m. Breakfast
8 :15 a.m. Bus to depart hotel
9:00 a.m. Stop #3 - Provincial Abattoir Tour
11:30 a.m. Lunch Stop
1:00 p.m. Farm Stop #4 -commercial cow-calf and backgrounding with discussions on rotational grazing and barn design
3:00 p.m. Arrive back at Best Western, Brantford

The Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Agribusiness Rob Flack was in Lanark County today announcing the increases to the Feeder program. Lanark county is home to the Two Valleys Feeder Finance Co-op and the Ottawa Valley Breeder Co-op. Both our co-ops serve beef farmers from Renfrew/Lanark east to the Quebec border.
